I generally get between 21 and 23 MPG on my 100 mile round trip commute. Sometimes I'll get 25MPG. The best I ever got was 28.83 MPG on a single tank of gas on a trip to Florida on cruise control. I use regular 87 octane. Keep in mind that a 6 speed manual gets better fuel economy than a G35X AWD automatic. Having the 6th gear makes a big difference. My low fuel warning light comes on between 325 and 350 miles. I could get 400 miles to a tank if I had to but usually fill up shortly after the warning light comes on unless I'm in an unfamilar area in which case I fill up at the 1/4 mark.k@osx71 wrote:Just thought I'd ask, 'cuz my mpg is a super low 14-16 mpg depending on city or highway... My '97 pathfinder ate less gas... I'm still constantly checking my mpg each time I go to refuel. But 'til now, it's constantly a 14-16 mpg... Is there a problem with my car? or is it normal? anyway to fix it?
This is a topic that occurs quite regularly. It is important to some and unimportant to others. I keep a very close watch both on my oil and gas consumption. Some never check their oil,air or cabin filters. A drop in MPG can indicate a possible problem. That just my opinion!ArEs23x wrote: way too many times...
I try my best not to follow my gas patterns n not care so I wont start getting anal about MPG..i just drive w/ out caring about gas... I am not flaming u or anything...just speaking my own opinion
Interesting because at 80MPH my tach is exactly at 3k RPMWhen I had a G35X loaner at 80MPH the tach was at 3250RPMHow much were the tires and rims?Tampa G35 Sedan 6MT wrote:I have a 52 mile commute each day all highway.I am getting about 29-31 mpg
I have tested the drive to work and back and only used 1.67 gallons
I have a 6 speed manual
I have taller than normal tires in the rear and that has something to do with it. 275 40 R19
That is the trick on highway.
My wife has a gps system that tracks your exact speed and when i put it in my car it says that at 80 mph my car reads only 2600 RPMS
my spedo says i am going slower than i really am like 70 or something like that

You are very wise!Tampa G35 Sedan 6MT wrote:I looked into doing a swap out.... but i was told it was cheeper to buy rims and tires (at least in the rear) that were larger in Diamater... I almost went with 245 50 ZR 19 but i went with the 275 40 19 looks way better

You can go with the 245 45 17 or even 245 50 17Look at the 245 45 17 general exclaim tires on the tirerack.com Had that same size on my lexus Is 300 and it was really nice. The car felt like it was glued to the groundgwoods wrote:

I wanted taller gears but went with 235/45/17" tires to get the same effect on final drive ratio.
I may do 245/40/17 next time.

I went from 225/55/17 to 235/45/17 and I can feel an acceleration difference! Gas milage did not change.Tampa G35 Sedan 6MT wrote:you

You will never feel the difference over the smaller tire... nor will it change your Mpg...
