Oh one more thing... after about 2000 miles with Amsoil and (larger) Amsoil filter, my oil is still clean as a mofo! So I don't change my oil until after 6k. Amsoil says their oil can go 25k and their filters can go 12.5k. Here's a link

Wix rocks too, it's usually the store brand filter at places like OReilly's Car Quest and Napa...

I've heard the same thing about the Fram filters, and since i work for a parts store I decided to grab a standard Fram, and one of their ToughGard filters and cut 'em open. The standard Fram looked pretty much as stated....standard. But the ToughGard series was very impressive. Excellent filtration and all that happy jazz...yadda yadda yadda....i've been using standard Frams as long as I can remember, but after seeing the difference, the extra $3 is worth it for a Fram ToughGard.

I agree - the toughguard and the x2 filters from fram are very well constructed, and do their job well. All in all, I still stick with a K&N oil filter though (I get a discount at Kragen - costs me $7)

By way of construction, they're all pretty much the same, with subtle differences between the higher-end brands, and major differences (read-cardboard crap) in the el-chapos.

I too spoil the crap out of my car - I don't think I've skimped on anything except maybe the cheap-*** seat covers. Heh

I too have used the Fram x2 filters. Those work really well in terms of filtration. The oil was alot cleaner when I used those, but the bad side was the cost. So I said eff it and went back to Nissan filters which I get for about 2 bucks now.

I use OEM filter on all my cars, they're cheap and generally good quality

with the 240, I do get valve tap when the car is cold, maybe I should try around with some other filters see if it goes away, with my Maxima I get no valve tapping using an OEM filter, neither with my Lexus SC400... the Lexus filter is much higher quality than the Nissan filters (and costs like 15 bucks a piece)

I like Wix filters. Good rep & found cheap locally.
