Did you go directly through Stillen to order yours?

the Gen 2 doesn't require any cutting Joe.
The filters on that R2C look funky, but the tubes are nice...
Really any intake design similar to this will do great.
The reason people get an intake system is A) want a nicer sound B) want the extra 3-9 horsepowerz, and C) not having to constantly buy air filters

I would favor the long tubes because they clearly draw air from outside the engine compartment. Filters that sit inside the engine compartment (and do not use an enclosure and snorkle like the OEM air boxes) are sucking in hot engine air which limits any HP gains, especially in traffic.

When you sit in traffic...do you need the HP? There is a common misconception when it comes to intakes. The reality is that when you accelerate, the underhood temps go down drastically in seconds. The only issue is if you drag race, sitting in the staging lanes it can heat up the intake track and you make less HP...but a long tube design would be even worse.

Just think about this...what's easier to drink from: a short, thick straw, or a long, thick straw with a few curves?

good job joe. Another thing I tell people, is they don't realize how quick their intake charge is. From the front of the grille to the combustion chamber, air goes from outside the car to burning in a cylinder in a second. How much hotter does the air get? from 87.6* outside, to 87.8* at the throttle chamber?

Thanks Poyz! Yup, a lot of this is marketing from the CAI manufactures. I'm under no illusion that I'm getting a huge bump in HP with any intake...but I do know that it will give me the sound I'm looking for at WOT :naughty:

great choice! But later on, you're gonna want to add the exhaust. It has a wonderful rumble to it. Plus, it'll help free up a little more power. What goes in, must come out.

But then why do all the car manufacturers snorkle the air from outside the engine compartment? They could save a lot of money and weight by having the intake sit under the hood.

I'm willing to be convinced either way, and neither of us has raw science to know what's right, which is why I default to what the car manufacturers do, since they have all the data and good cause to get it right.

Ironically, if I got the system, I'd be getting it for the induction sound! And that probably favors the short tubes.

Remember that OEM intake design is more concerned about noise then performance, especially in a luxury sports car.

People confuse CAI with Ram-Air........Ram-Air is a myth.

lol, more like Ram Air is a throwback to the 70's. It helps with a carb engine...but even that is questionable. Just a marketing tactic by GM.

ram air wasn't so much a myth as a misconception. it was fine for long run intakes on big bore engines. Otherwise, it was just a marketing ploy
