I used to post a lot more but now i mainly just lurk. I actually still check General Chat every day just out of habit because of how busy it used to be.

I've got a lot of cool stuff to write up, I just haven't gotten around to it. I have a couple of days with no homework, I'll try to get on it and get that stuff posted. I know a lot of us that compose the night crew in the Learned'd are in school -- me, Razi, and Chris, --- I think Danshaz is still taking clases too. Some nights, it's just not possible. Some of the regulars from when I first became a member are in different jobs and lost their internet access. Just a combination of things.
Whoa... Hold on a sec... I was never calling you out for lack of content or input. You should be taking 5 classes, and not wasting your days on the interweb.

I agree that the Learned'd and other threads of it's nature, have been the demise of General Chat. I could see that if threads of those natures were moved, it would be similar as to why PM's had been disabled for so many years. In doing this, there would be more activity in Gen Chat. If it became a little more social and a little less antiseptic, I would probably spend more time here. I miss all the people I know from here.

That's just my 2¢.

I'm with Noah. I think the lack of social involvement has made me less interested at times too. Things just haven't been quiet right for a year or so now and it's been getting rapidly worse the past couple of months it seems.

Nobody needs to feel like it's their sole responsibility to generate content and keep people talking though, because it should be a group effort from everyone. I think sending the Learned'd and all similar threads out to pasture might be worth considering.

I'm taking classes and i've changed jobs in the past month, so I haven't been available as much either, but I still pitch in where I can. I still check in on everything daily, but I don't post as much during the week since I don't have quite as much freedom with my internet access at work.

The change of jobs has really cut back on my time spent on nico. I do a lot of lurking and im sometimes just to lazy to sign in and post. Ever since the update I get signed out constantly. Learned'd is good for bsing an yes sometimes interesting content gets put in there when it may deserve its own thread. It would be sad to see it go because its nice to be able keep up with members by posting in there.

Right, but remember what it was like before the endless threads? Everyone kept up with each other just as much, if not more. We just did it in multiple threads instead of one that is so damn big and all encompassing.

On top of all that, I can't access, or take the chance to access the Learned'd thread at work. It got me in some pretty hot water at work once before for the continuous NSFW content. Not worth the risk now.

I'm with you on getting signed out continuously. It's fu**ing gay.

He's a long time stalker of yours. ;)

Even if we close the Learned'd down, it probably won't make a huge difference.
Even the Learned'd is a ghost town these days, we stay on the same page for ages.

This is true. It's up to you guys. I love the Learned'd, even when it's not moving four pages a night. However, if you think it is best to lock it, I will. We can always start a new chapter later on if we want. It's almost to the point of locking it and starting a new chapter anyway. 375 - 400 pages is about all the server will tolerate before we start having loading issues. How in the hell we ever supported the original one for so long is beyond me. That thread was actually the reason NICO crashed so much before the switch.

:chuckle:
The good old days.

You could try closing it and seeing if that makes people create more threads, but I don't think it'll help since it's mostly just hellos and goodbyes and small conversations about things we did that day, and I don't see us making threads about what we did that morning.

Maybe when people's lives settle down a bit, more of us will start making threads.

I dont know what it is, but I agree that closing Learned wont make much difference. It just seems like there really isn't anything to talk about anymore.

It's Chris who was "A33". He just traded his I30 to Tibby for the 4th gen he had (which used to be Bens car). Thus, he changed his username.

Like I said before... less whining, more : search.php?search_id=unanswered

:)

I can't sit here and lie and say I'm real excited to see this type of thread. I think folks have forgotten why we're here (and how we got here). :(

Sorry you're not fond of the thread. I wondered what the hell happened since I have been gone for the last couple of years. I was just shocked to see that the staff has taken over General Chat, and that the users are gone.

I know why this forum is here, and how it got here. I understand what you're vision is Greg. I just don't share that vision anymore. Heck, I was hoping to see who was around, and maybe jump into some discussions. You say "less whining and more doing"... Problem is, I'm not interested in answering questions that can be found easily if the n00bs would just use the search feature. There are very few questions that haven't been answered. This is why I am not interested in being on staff anymore.

Basically, I was just hoping to see what was going on, and maybe get some interesting threads started. :)

Greg,

I think we may have mis-communicated. Sometimes I really hate trying to communicate on the internet. Things that are said can be so easily taken out of context, and found offensive. Greg, had we had this conversation in person, I don't think you would have taken it that way. I probably would have taken your "stop whining and start doing" quite differently also.

Greg, please don't be offended by what I wrote, I was trying to say something and it didn't come out quite like I had planned, and I think you took it a little too personal.

I do. I dont know why.

I'm primarily using Safari for the Mac. It seems to also happen with Firefox.

Also happens with my Thinkpad running Win7 and Firefox and my Android 2.x phone running Opera Mini.

*shrug*

Maybe I need to go into every one of my devices and clear the cookies.

Getting logged out is usually a cookie issue with your browser… Try this: Log out of the forum and close the forum tab. Delete cookies for nicoclub and start over to see if the problem clears itself.

Has worked for me on 3 different systems, so I know it helps.
