To the OP, this is an issue hot for debate. Do a search to find a 3 or 4 page thread that went WAY off topic, but was about the same thing. Here's my .02.

The manual calls for premium grade gas as the engine was designed for it. It specifically states that if you have to use lower grade gas, to only put a few gallons in until you get to a station that sells premium grade. Now the big question is: will using lower grade gas hurt my engine? Probably not, but you will not get the performance out of her. The cost difference isn't that high...maybe you can bag a lunch one day out of the month to make up for the extra cost. (figure premium is .30 higher than regular, it's about 4.50 extra for every 15 gallons).

HeyJoe

My monthly commuting gas bill is up to around $300 per month with about $70 in tolls. I will hit 53k miles tomorrow and drive 2k miles a month. I am near sea level in NJ and my G gives me more than enough performance. For those purests that are spending thousands in Mods and want more power than the stock G's offer then premium is what they should use. Not every G owner wants or needs any more than what the stock G offers. I've written on this topic because some younger members are confused over what fuel type to use? My MPG is also better than what some others are getting or complaining about. In short if you are just commuting and not racing using regular 87 octane is not going to hurt your G. Whether leasing for a few years or even getting 100 to 200k miles out of your G, regular is not going to hurt it. Just my $.02 based on over 40 years of driving experience.

At 350 miles to the tank, you fill up about 5.7 times a month. At 4.50 extra per fill up, it would cost you about 25.65 a month more. Instead of 1 lunch, that would be 1 dinner.

Well using your math that comes to $308.00 for 12 months.

That would be dinner for three at my favorite restaurant.

I'll stick to regular 87 octane thank you very much and enjoy that Porterhose steak with the wife and daughter once a year

My G goes a little over 550 miles a month. 87 would save me about 7 bucks a month. Not even enough for a small Papajohn's pizza.

Telcoman, check this thread...floor jack repair... zerothread/325872

Telco, I'm looking at it monthly...in the grand scheme of things, the cost difference is very small. 1 dinner out a month. But, we understand your decision to use regular instead of premium. I'm not arguing with you, or trying to get you to switch. I'm just making an argument for the OP.

Hey Joe

I know and your point is well taken.

Gasoline and oil seem to generate lots of posts and some strong opinions.

This is a great forum with laughs, etcI do respect all opinions even those that own Mustangs and other Fords

I'm sure many have learned things they didn't know by reading the many posts on this site. I certainly have.Except how to reset the CEL light. The procedure seems a little murky to me Still struggling with those instructions and the $ucken light is still on

I have a tool box full of Craftsman but I stopped buying them too because I was told a torque wrench is not a hand tool.

I buy a lot of stuff from harbor freight too if it breaks they just tell me go get a new one just like Craftsman used to do.

Thank you. I'll have to check out Harbor Freight.

In other G news this morning, Infiniti service informed me the "Service engine soon" light will go out by itself after a few hundred miles.

Thanks

When I spoke to Infiniti service they told me the service engine soon light would go out by itself after a few hundred miles. It went out by itself after about 100 miles

I think I'm going to pick up a
