Yesterday I picked up a VERY slim short clutch fan that I'm going to adapt to the stock fan wheel so I can have it run off the belt. Besides for that I'll be using pushers too.

Single 12" PermaCool high performance. Sounds like a tornado. I have no cat and N1 Dual, and the exhaust is hard to hear above the fan.... I need to put in on a thermo switch so it doesn't stay on all the time.

I think your 14" may be overkill. Remember that the tips of the fan blades push the most air. So even if your fan spec is 3000 CFM, most of that, say 2000 CFM is coming right off of the tips. It may not be going through the radiator at all.

I also mounted my fan near the passenger side edge of the radiator, since this will be where most of the water flows. The inlet and outlet are both on the passenger side, so that's where you need to plan on taking most of the heat out. If you only have a single fan, you are wasting it if you put it right in the middle of the radiator.

Does your heater put out hot air? Just checking because if you have blockage internally, no fan, no matter how efficient will help you.

GTR radiator with twin AC fans on the front.. never have any cooling probs.. the AC fans move HEAPS of cfm.Trick is having them mounted as clos as possible to the rad, and foam around edge beteen the rad and fan. so the air goes THOUGH the ad, not under the edge of the fan.

Here's the fan I was speaking about above. I'll be fabbing it onto the stock fan location There should be enough room, this thing is pretty thin. it's not as bulky as the stock fan, but it will be nice knowing I have one running while the engine is running. I'll also be using pushers along with this.

I will be running 2 10" slim fans that I got off ebay. The guy I got them from got the fans from summit and they push a good bit of air. They are pusher fans.~ANDREW~

That is a neat idea! The only thing you might want to make sure of is that the fan you use can take 8000-9000rpm. Have you looked into one of those slim flexlites?

I ran a single a/c fan on my old red car and it worked well. I mght run a dual setup like that, but I really want to make this car as low on the "getto" meter as possible. Then again, if it works... it works.

Weird thing...

I got into my car today with the windows up and cranked my RB20. The interior noise was extremely loud, like a very loud exhaust, even at idle. I have an N1 dual, which people have said is pretty quiet on the RB20.

After some checking, I pulled the relay for the single 12" PermaCool high performance fan I am running and the sound disappeared. As others have said, the N1 dual is VERY quiet and nice sounding. But the fan roars. I watched it for a while, and I think that the steel frame it comes with resonates at a low frequency, vibrating the whole car.

Anyone else have a fan this loud? I can't seem to get the car to warm all the way up with it, which is probably good, but it is much too loud.

Anyway, I plan to make a custom frame out of aluminum square tube to help stiffen things up. I hope this will cut the resonance out.

Just mount it with some rubber or foam insulators directly to the radiator and the rubber mounting of everything should take care of it. I had a 14" permacool with another 12" slimline running and it was fine.

It is on foam insulators now. Anyone else have one of the high performance PermaCool 12" (not the regular PermaCool 12"). The high performance fans have a different, more open frame style. Maybe I'll call PermaCool about this and see what they suggest.

MY PERMA-COOL PERFORMANCE FAN WAS LOUD AS HELL ALSO.... I HAD THE 14" FAN. ONE OF MY VETTE FANS BLOWS HARDER THAN THE 14" FAN I USED TO USE.

I just installed my Koyo with Dual 12inch Imperial pusher fans (part 226112 from Autozone) I know autozone fans, but Autozone was open Sunday and the fans were $60 each.

With the AC condenser out of the way, the fans do not make contact with any part of the car other than the radiator. I was actually able to slide into place with the fans attached and not damage the radiator. (I do not recommend doing it that way, as you may not be so lucky).

I will take some pictures of it in the car this weekend.

Probably 2.5 to 3 inches. Thicker than the Flex-a-lite setup I had, but not much.

You actually have room for a radiator that thick? That's good to know :D

If you decide to keep the IC but not the piping, I will buy the piping from you.I may even buy the whole setup, if you don't want to the intercooler.

The added thickness of the Koyo projects inward, towards the engine, doesn't it? So from the front of the radiator foward there should be no difference (I hope). You should be able to put anything in front of the Koyo that you could put in front of the stock radiator (such as fans, condenser, FMIC, or whatever you had before the Koyo).... at least that's what I thought.

For the most part you are correct. The stock Radiator was not even with the end caps, so you actually had about a half an inch space on each side, that the koyo fills up . Your Condenser would still fit, but then you would not have a place to put fans.

I had dual slim 12" puller fans on my stock radiator that were between the end tanks so they were utilizing the half inch of space, but the Koyo, as you said projects into the engine bay twice as much as the stock radiator, so the puller fans would not fit.

I should have taken a side by side, the Koyo core is 3 times as thick as the stock radiator. I am ready for the Texas summer now baby!! Although me ditching the AC, may not seem like such a good idea in a few months.

You need AC in PA becuase the dam humidity! I like to take long trips down south and it's soo much nicer to have AC on those Hot Humid nights. 240's also suck with the windows down. There is soo much wind noise.
