I know the power drops some around the 6k for me but if I keep it on till 62-6500 then my RPM's are higher for the next gear. If I can hit the sweet spot right I can sometimes chirp 3rd. If I shift lower than 6k then my cars RPM drops too low for the next gear.

I got my S13 3 years ago with 90K miles on it. Been driving it hard after 100K. Especially the last year since I've been thinking of a rebuild for a turbo. Now I have a RB25 in my garage waiting for all the parts to be thrown into the S13.

It's taking everything I've thrown at it. Overheating from a busted radiator, and busted water pump. Had cases (x2) of disappearing oil. transmission synchros are fried from hard shifts. Racing everything from POS to Porsche carrera (last night). Win or loose its still alive and willing to race! No shame with this engine.

the s13 guys are going to find more power up higher because of their cams. s14s also have a lower redline.

i shift about 6G, i think you can find where your car makes peak hp at a certian rpm by getting on a dyno. not for sure though haven't been on one yet.

i have a quick question, will the car let you go past the redline? or will it just bounce off?

I don't know about the bounce. It was more like a pounding when the limiter kicked in at the speed I was going. Maybe it was my heart thinking I blew something in the engine. I've felt the speed limiter before and still feel it once in a while. but the rev limiter is something I never want to experience again.

BTW I was in third around 80's when it hit.

if its anything like the speed limiter, its just like letting off the gas fast. except you can really feel it when it hits at 118mph cause of all the wid resistance

hey 95ka24de, unless u got some sorta mod that you failed to mention, YOU'RE the one that's not shifting well...if u look at most professional opinions on S14's, you'll see that it's most efficient to "short shift" a little. meaning, you shouldnt be shifting way up at redline, but closer to 5500 rpm or so...

what i mean by it bouncing is like, if i was in neutral and just revved it up, would it bounce back onces it hits redline? or go past it way into the redzone?
