Hey guys,

I picked up this car for 600 $ in teh condition it is in. The only thing wrong with it is that it has a stolen radio and seems to leak into the back

It is a 1991 240 SX ( S13 ? Maybe )

Does this car look like a good candiate for a SR swap ? ALso Lower it ? What do you guys think is 17 inch's too small of a rim for this ride ?

Please post comments.

You don't know the difference between s13's and s14's, and you're talking about a SR swap? Not to be rude, but people are going to flame you pretty bad.

$600 for that? Sounds like a damn good deal, once you fix the leak. :)

And 17" is about the biggest you'll want to go on the 240. It came stock with 15s...

EDIT: You're right, it is an S13.

ok i had the leak as well, pull off the interrior on the inside of the tailights, take a hose and have a friend pour water on it while you are inside the car to find the leak, or tape it up there, my leak was right above the tailights and i just siliconed it up n viola no more leak, if its not there just follow the water, and good luck with youre new car

i dont have a wiper on my hatch either, the mexican i bought it off of removed it and made a silicone pacth about an inch wide to cover it, im geussing it got in the way of a gigantic spoiler because theres too many holes for a stock one, which i dont have either

Hey guys,

Well the car seems in great condition. No rust underneath it. I do not want to rice out my ride. Believe me thats the last thing i wanted to do.

I was wondering what model 240 SX it is. LE SE ? or whatever other models there might be. Also Maybe if someone can tell me the differences between them as well.

Thanks a ton guys.

I've been talking to my friend that did a swap in a 91 240 SX with a S14 black top SR20 he says that it should be a good car to work on. I hope this isnt too far fetched but i'd like about 275 RWHP. Am I dreaming too much ?

Looks like a base model to me but still a DAMN good deal. It'll be a good car to work on and as to your hope of 275rwhp, that just depends on your budget :D Welcome to NICO, congratulations on your new car, and try searching around for the different swaps available and stuff. Check out the CA forum, the SR forum, the RB, and of course the KA and KA-T forums there is a wealth of knowledge about getting what you want out of the car here!

it looks good. SE model was the base model if i remember right, so I'm assuming you have the SE. You'll know it's an LE if you have leather seats.

If you're gonna go with a new turbo to produce more power, stick with an S13 redtop. The VVT of the S14's and S15's are good, but they're extra umph is from the turbo.

JESUS that is the cleanest engine bay I ever did see! Sounds like you the deal of the century!!!!! I dig those rims.

EDIT: Thos rims look to be 5 lug. S13s are 4 lug unless you swap out for 5 lugs hubs. Sorry

Oh, and I think 17's are too big. I prefer the look of a 16 :D

SE is not a base model. My SE has power everything, Active Speaker system, 7 spokes amoung other things. He has a Base right there. (SEs had a decal that says SE on the rear right of the car and SE hatchs have a little spoiler)

Ok. I always got confused by the trim levels on these cars :D

btw, are those wheels a 4 lug pattern or a 5 lug?

This is true, I have an SE as well that is power everything and says SE on the top right of the rear of the car. Doesn't detract from that being a SWEET deal!!!

Yeah the car is a base model... but everyone is acting like that is a bad thing

stock for stock base model will be faster than an SE. (base will be lighter due to laok of rear wiper motor, window motors, mirror motors etc)

Hey guys,

Those rims might work on the 240.( note the many holes in the eim to properly line them up. The engine really isnt clean .. I will shampoo it and take pictures tomorrow of it cleaned then you guys will see.

Those rims will not work without a five lug conversion (they are clearly multi 5 lug), you can quote me on that :)

Congradualtions on the find, i bought a mint base model 5 speed coupe and i payed alot more than you :(

is yours 5 speed or auto?

that's why i was wondering if they were 5 lug or not. i couldn't tell if they had 4 lug positions drilled in there somewhere.

i payed over 10 times the amount you did for my S13. So you got a heck of a deal especially if it's running good

funny. my 89 s13 is a base model but has a rear wiper, spoiler, manual removable sunroof thingy, power mirrors, door locks, active speaker system (though it was not advertised on the speaker grills, as it has been on every other s13 ive seen with it), sport package, the teardrop-looking alloy wheels, front lip, etc.

why would it have been sold as a base model instead of a se?ive never seen someone with an s13 like mine...hmm...
