I just bought a spec 6 puck sprung(2 months old) and its garbage, but its the only one i could find that was made to fit a CA, im not a fan of drilling out a KA PP and removing a dowl pin(for balance reasons).

is there anything else? or should i just go ahead and try to make a SR flywheel fit?

I know you say you arent a fan of the KA clutch, but I am using a Centerforce Dual Friction and it works great. Has the feel of a stock clutch but a little grippier.

^^^^ +1 for centerforce. im using the stage 2 and its great. You can take out all of the dowel pins if your worried about balance, but IMHO one lil few gram dowel pin is not going to hurt the balance of a 30 lb flywheel assembly.

i need something that can handle clutch kicks all day long, i have a 6 puck sprung from spec and i thought that would do the trick with only 210hp but since day one its felt soft and engauged 40% from the floor.im starting to think modding a sr flywheel, but i searched and cant find the write up on how to. anyone know?

im sick of the clutch finding or modding game for the CA so im convinced on the SR flywheel since sr stuff is so easy to find/get.

i searched and searched and could not find anything on this even though i read about it in the past. so anyone know EXACTLY i need parts wise and what i have to do to get this to work good?

THANK!

My previous part number research had led me to believe this:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...%3AIT

would work with the SR flywheel. Theres a thread here, that guy who works for JWT (who posts here I believe) had done the test fitting.

From what im understanding, it seems as if a lightweight flywheel is out of the question? Every CA owner has to use his factory unit w/ a KA clutch or go mess around w/ a SR flywheel/clutch combo?

PDM Racing uses a CFDF in their track car... "Utilizing Centerforces patented centrifugally designed weights, this clutch retains near stock clutch pedal feel, yet has upwards of 400% more clamping force than OEM. We have been using (and abusing) this clutch for over 6 years in our own street/race S13, and have had zero problems."

So what problems did you have with your spec. I bought the same clutch from enjuku racing but my ca is not running yet so I dont know what to expect. Do they wear out fast or something?

-1 for Centerforce Dual Friction. Great pedal feel but slips on hot days during highway pulls.

well i am going to send my distributor my old clutch that came with the car and he is going to give it to his clutch guy. (who makes some bad *** clutches that support 600+hp) and hopefully they can do something for my setup and once we get close to production (if anything comes of it) i will see at that point if there is anyone interested. but i WILL need something that can hold over 450hp. i will get back you guys after i find out more.

well since day one the pedal feel is soo soft, softer then oem and it didnt engauge until 50% from the floor.Im making about 210hp and running a 6 puck sprung and after a couple of clutch kicks and getting sideways it starts to slip and doesnt enguage until about 90% from the floor.i removed the dampener and re bled it.

i was going to use them but that max guy is not a very good business man i tried getting ahold of him and he was always busy, the clutch had to be made and plus my friends have gotten parts from him and it took forever.

I found these clutches a while ago while I was checking out Haltech setups. http://www.tweakit.net/shop/in...8_439

I don't know much about the clutch itself, although I know the website is reputable. They are one of the big distributors for Haltech in Australia and have gotten only praise from people who buy from them. The prices on the clutches don't come out to be too bad at all. It never hurts to shoot them an email as I'm sure they'd answer any questions.

oh wait, you don't want to go the KA clutch route. Why don't you pull the pin out of the flywheel, then go get it resurfaced/ balanced.

Did you try contacting Spec to make them aware of the problem ? Perhaps thats the only way they'll know the unit is inadequate. I've seen them alter their clutch for other applications to where they performed up to the task... all done thru customer feedback. It should solve your problem and contribute alot to keeping a good feel/no slip/reasonable cost clutch available for a moded ca18.Spec clutches found behind some powerful street 4cylinders (for instance 400+ ft-lb tq 2.3 sohc fords and 2.6 sohc starions). So its not like they're incapable.

what do you call affordable ?Is "cuzano" still around ? He used/sold 'hyperclutches' for the ca18, ~$300 I believe.
