Since I'm stuck at work, I decided to make a 2010 version of this year's "What did Santa bring you?" I haven't opened up my presents yet, but what have you Niconauts gotten? :)

~$250 in gift cards from various handyman-type stores.
A knife, an Indian-made wrench set for SAE and metric, some clothes and some useless everyday crap. I have to return a head-mounted-light pack to the hardware store.

That's it, I don't mind.

Nook Color. Got one for my dad, too. It rocks. Full color magazines on the go. Most of the mags I currently subscribe to are available, and there are a few others I don't currently get that I'll be subscribing to on the Nook (like Analog--the scifi periodical Dune originally appeared in as a multi-part series).

The screen is beautiful, skinned android interface and features are slick and responsive, and the battery life is still 8 hours under constant use. It's also EXACTLY the right size. Fits in my jacket pocket, easy to hold, but the screen is big enough to be easy on the eyes.

There's also a strong possibility this thing will get more tablet-style updates as time goes on. B&N is already planning an app store launch in January, and rooted nooks get access to the real Android market.

Only downside is no 3G, but with my rooted G1 and its ability to serve as a wifi hotspot, that's not an issue.

I also got a really cool dynamo-charged 3-LED flashlight which I'll be leaving in my car. I cranked the dynamo for maybe a couple minutes, and it took several HOURS for the LEDS to start dimming.

Oh, and my brother and I got a breach-loading .410 shotgun.

And I got the day off work, which I was not expecting, and was REALLY, REALLY nice.
