As long as you're not using the belt groove next to the chipped area, it should be ok. As for what caused it, my guess would be contact with some hard object.

And yes, improved communication would be good.

sorry for the lack of communication but thanks for the imput with the little u no about it and 2 pictures thats all i really needed to know was if it was still safe to use
