Hi there I have a Uncle in Tokyo who has agreed to get me a pair of 180sx kouki tailights. Here is his letter:

I have checked on your Taillight parts with the customer center here, and found that the parts are available here, but probably would not fit your car (attaching). The tailights you have are the S13 Type, and the Taillights for the 96-98 240 SX is the S14 Type (2 styles). If you still want to order and try to attach to your car, the price would be \16,200 x 2 = \32,400 ($280.00) for pre-'96style, and \14,800 x 2 = \29,600 ($250.00) for post- '96 style, not including shipping costs to send to you.

Will the post 96 fit on my 93' hatch? Any brackets or anything else I need? Thanks

Uhhhhh...... he has an s13 and wants to put s14 tail lights on it. NO, they will NOT fit without spending alot of money on custom bodywork.

EDIT: there is no such thing as an S-14 180sx. Kouki lights (s13 180sx) would look very cool on your hatch though.... direct fit i belive.

I want the 180sx tail not the s14. My question is what year? I'm guessing it's the post 98.

The 180SX had a production run from at least 89 to 98. They got Kouki (3rd gen) taillights in 96. So even though it's a 96, and 96 for the Silvias is S14, a 96 180SX is still an S13 (RPS13). And the taillights will not bolt in if you just get the two lenses like in the picture. You need the midsection, and the bottom section too. If you have those, it's a bolt-on affair.

he s sayin the 180sx is the s13, it is only made in the s13 body style, so a 96 180sx still looks like a s13.....a 96 240sx is an s14, not a 180sx

The US version of the 180SX (240SX Hatch) ended in 93. In Japan, production continued until 1998. In 1996, it got a facelift, a new rear end and a slightly changed motor/ECU.

Now Is there anywhere I can buy the bottom section? Second, can the existing middle section from my car work because it looks the same? Thank you all

The JDM middle sections are a wee bit diferent, but unless you're a JDM fiend, then the existing one should work fine.Post up some pics if you get the Kouki's! Those are so friggin' p:mp!

Theres no way you can use a USDM middle section with JDM Kouki taillights. the taillights come up at an angle towards the middle as opposed to straight up like USDM taillights. And I believe the bottom section doesn't work either.

I don't see the point in buying these tails if I can't get the 2 sections. Anybody know of where to buy a fitting kit if there even is one?

They can be molded and fitted if you have the time and patience.

Tell your uncle to grab the 180SX "Type X" taillights and the senter section, all done.

there was also a type x in the chuki years(91-93 style for US). if he gets you the tails you can still buy the trim piece and center section over here from nismoparts.com.

why the hell would you do that when you can get the other two pieces and make it fit perfectly? And no, molding them will not save you money.

BattleStyle - love the way your car looks man, very nice. What struck me most is your exhaust, what is that muffler? I really don't want a coffee can sticking out 6 inches past my rear bumper like alot of the guys who have nice 240's otherwise. I just can't stand the way that looks. From the angle it's hard to tell if that's just the stock muffler, I apologize if it is but I just had to ask. I've got an S13 hatch and really want those lights aswell, where'd ya get yours? You said you can get the center bit from nismo, can ya get the actual Koukis there aswell? I'm planning on an S15 front end conversion after I put an RB25 in. It's gunna be one frankenstein of a car but just thinking about the finished product gives me wood. :D Thanks in advance.

Edit: It looks as though they offer the whole set for a rather decent price if I'm reading correctly.... http://www.nismoparts.com/catalog/?section=228
