Wes, not until you drive an Active Q WITH a controler, will you be able to answer that question. You mgt not win many events but you WILL have a lot of fun.

I'd love to have any year FWD Eldorado, preferably a 69-70 or 98-02. As well as any RWD Coupe deVille or Fleetwood Brougham sedan or coupe from 80 to 91 before the final RWD body style change.

But no HT4100 or Oldsmobile 307 engines for me.Im thinkin' Northstar, LS1, LS2 and of course the 8.2 litre 500 inch Caddy.

However, this is only after I accumulate my fleet of Nissan toys.A certain Black Obsidian 90-93 G50 with a pressurized VH45 is on this list.

Can anyone say Track Car

In tire smoke we trust.

I was thinking Wes. You know what car fits your needs, my other car. The BMW 330i. With no mods it out handles, and out accelerates the G50, especially on a small track. It has good power and it's lightweight. About 3300 lbs. The only thing you need is a stick shift, though mine is a Steptronic, so you can get away with it. It has the heated leather seats, and auto climate control that you want and is a comfortable enough car with a driving position that's spot on. And if you do want to mod it, there's many more things available for it that the Q. If you can't afford an E46, get one of the older ones. You know how to work on cars. There's no way a 2 ton luxury would ever be a satisfying track car. At least not for me.

Lou I think thats reasonable.. However anyone can make a light car do great on the track.. Im going more after the M5 sort of thing..

Im not trying to build anything to win races, im trying to build something to scare people!

I really wish I could find a nice clean active G50.. Then all i'd have to do is put my multi-link setup on there and itd be the best suspenison you could ask for.

Read one of the old car magazine articles that are on your web site. I think I remember reading somthing about the active not being quick enough to make adjustment for quick moves, like a slolom or such. Not only that, you add more weight. I think where the active shines more would be on the every day driving. I'd love to drive an active. Let me know when you get one and I'll go to Indy.

Not to mention it costs a LOT less to add power to an LT1 than it does to a VH45DE. Granted, it'll never handle like a G50, but it wasn't designed to either.

I think that the FWB is probably the 2nd best American car of the 1990's (ZR-1 of course). Not to downplay the G50 however, I don't like either one objectively better than the other. Every time I've made a "cars I'd realistically like to own" list in the last 6-8 months, both have been present.

For the curious: CA18 S13, GD1 Fit Sport 5AT, G50, FWB, LT1 C4 'vette.

Body roll? All 4000 pound cars have about the same body roll: as they all have roughly the same CG, track width, and spring sway bar stiffness.

Shocks almost always have a 7" stoke so +- 3.5>3.0" of body roll.

Skid pad is 90-95% tires, slalom is shock and spring stiffness.

My point is you can take a Lexus 400 and make it the equal of any equal weight car same with a Q or BMW or Audi or MB.

As someone mentioned earlier decide first how much you want the car to weigh..........only MB gives you choices of engine size you can actually get a S280, S320, S430, S500, S550, S600.

As to the Q where else can you find so many junked ones for parts, you won't get that with Audi or MB or Lexus or RollsRoyce or Lambo or Ferrari.

It almost like driving a Crown Vic without the problems, but who would want those used parts in the first place.

And, that my friends, is a succinct zinger.

Everytime I am in a Fraud Clown Vic or a Taudry Car I am amazed what a can of bad welds and loose bolts it is.
