so what year was the conquest produced? It looks early 90's, that was just a guess...

ummm, no. DSM's are FWD/AWD and use an entirely difforent engine, body and drivetrane layout than the RWD starion/conquest. They share about zero parts.

Its funny you call DSMs girls cars when 240s were marketed as girls cars by nissan. Any stock turbo DSM would walk all over a stock 240sx and they are alot cheaper to upgrade.

a turboed SR20DE is not the same as a SR20DET, the DE block doesn't have oil squirters and impretty sure it has a higher compression ratio too.

DSMs (Diamond Star Motors) are vehicles produced in the Diamond Star factory in Illinois, produced under the joint Chrysler/Mitsubishi venture beginning in the late 80s. There were basically 2 chassis: The Eclipse/Talon/Laser and the 3000GT/Stealth. Both can be equipped with either Mitsubishi or Mopar powerplants

Yeah I changed my mind yet again.I am not going to get into the G20 project right noww.I am looking to upgrade to something with a lot more HP thad does not need any mods. Most likely an EVO or STI.I am still looking though.Who knows.

Im looking for a car with good potential. Good reliabilty in stock mode. 240's are great, but damn their like a rarity around here. im looking into a 91 Eclipse, 4400, 83k miles, 5-speed. looks all good, still have to check it out.

I also looked into an 99 altima SE, it had all the options, sunroof, leather, 50k miles. only 10 grand and financed for 4 years i would end up paying around 200 plus insurance a month.

il look into the conquest TSi, theres one round here but dont know if its up for sale.

it was also sold as the starion i belive....

The Fiero like a lot of other cars comes in differant versions. The 87-88 GT was a good car.It had the better looking body and the V6 5-speed.I had a 87 GT myself and other than some overheating issues it was an awesome car.

'88 Fiero GT 5-speed is actually a nice car, but prices have risen dramatically in recent years.

I'll throw out two choices that haven't been mentioned yet. Isuzu Impulse Turbo and Subaru XT6 AWD. Neither is a real road-burning sports car (both have potential tho'!) but both of them are pretty unique alternatives to the ubiquitous DSM/240/MR2 etc. cliques. Impulses and XT's compete in amatuer rally circuits every so often, I think they're kind of neat.

it sounds like he's looking for cars around 4-5 grand. as for that DSM for 4400 you're looking at...PASS THAT UP. you'll regret it. and i'd have to shut down the cavalier, too. nooo good.

in that price range you can probably find a G60 (supercharged) corrado with about 150K miles on it. and yes, there will be lots of repairs. if this is not something you're worried about, might I suggest another german car, that handles even better: the 944. just make sure you have another car you can drive while you're wrenching that one. :D also, check out sciroccos, the 16V variants are tons of fun, and theres a pretty substantial aftermarket. fieros are fun if you can find a good one. the stealth is only fun with the r/t (rwd) and the 3000gt is usually quite a bit more $. an 80's supra is defenitely a good time. but if you're gonna pick anything japanese and not a 240, go for the rx7.

well considering a stock 240 doesnt have a turbo I'd hope it would, but what about a non-turbo eclipse or a 240 with an sr20..would it still walk all over it?

who cares if it cheaper to upgrade its still crap Honda and Ford build better cars...and they dont waste thier time spreading thin, Like building TVs and tons of other crap that goes bad...I had a T.V. made by mitsu, I threw it out my window, My sister had an eclipse for 10,000 miles and it blew up, and I've heard countless other DSM/Mitsu horror stories like axles snapping in half while driving straight my buddies 3000gt sl caught on fire, so he bought a vr-4 which also proceeded to catch on fire. My other friends talon TSI's transmission went bad 4 times after replacing the transmission the last time the motor seized...come to think of it they are'nt girls cars they're just bad cars...Oh I have plenty more I just dont feel like typing anymore...

STAY AWAY FROM THEM, THEY ARE BAD, THE MONEY YOU SAVE ON UPGRADES WILL JUST GO INTO FIXING ALL THE PROBLEMS!
