What anti-theft prevention do you use?

Post your measures you've taken to prevent theft. Our rides are popular now with the drift scene and I hate to see people come on here with more "My 240 has been stolen in City, State."

Right now, I have some contraption that I believe is an ignition cutoff. It is a little hole that has a red light inside it that flashes (compelling i know). What you have to do is take this little thing from my keychain, and insert it into that hole. Think about what your headphones connector looks like and where you insert it into your favorite CD player.

The engine doesn't start without it. I remember back when I was looking to buy this car, the salesperson was like "here start it up". I put the key in and turned, and nothing. I thought to myself, "not a good sign". I guess this system is better than nothing though. I've left my car unlocked a couple times by accident, and I believe someone tried to screwdriver the ignition, as my ignition column is loose as hell now.

I can't seem to find any documentation for this thing. The only label is "VPS 15". It seems like it would be ez to bypass though.

I've been thinking about either a hidden kill switch or getting one of those pedal locks from TV because I heard they're bullet proof.

I have a hidden kill switch for my ignition and toggle switch for my clutch pedal.

As for the Club and pedal lock thing, I got to experience ways to by pass those with my friends in the auto business.

The club, everyone pretty much knows how to get that off. If they want the car that badly, they cut the wheel, slip it off, and even use it to break the steering column.

The pedal lock thing, on 240's manual transmission is easy to by pass. If you know a little bit about the electrical system, locking the clutch or brake pedal is a very simple puzzle to figure out, and takes 10 seconds to do. I will not get into any details how to do this, but for the shifting part, keep in mind clutchless shifting is easier than you think if someone wants the car that desperately. Just my $.02

I use the factory alarm/aftermarket alarm. I have three different sounds when my alarm goes off.1. stock horn2. alarm siren3. air horn

So I can usually hear my car miles away if it were to ever go off. It's pretty sensitive too but not too sensitive.

I hate alarms though. Especially if i back into a spot and set them off with my exhaust. People look at me like a hit the car with the alarm.

thank fully I live in peachtree city which is pretty much a crime free bubble. I don't need to worry about anti theft and usually I'll park with the windows down and the doors unlocked.

My theft prevention, Park in garages, and don't go to malls and movies... well when I do, I take my old winter beater that's half rusted, they can steal that if they want. In the rare cases that it is taken to places it's protected by a Viper 791XV. Sucks though, the last time I was at a movie with the lady, some ahole in some white car made contact with the passenger side of my front bumper while I was still enjoying the movie, now it's a little misaligned with the fender. If I saw the person who did that, his *** would of been shot.

I have a kill switch as well. The engine cranks and all, just no spark. Makes me feel a little better. When I start putting more money in I will get some other forms of protection.

Well other than everything (including my timer) was just stolen out of my car during shipping it here, no one can drive my car other than me. It'll die pretty fast unless you know what to do...

I use to park my 240 outside, now I park in inside the garage. I had the car a month someone tried to break in. My last 240 was broken into 3 times in a year and it had an alarm. I still think an alarm would be a good idea. I started to leave my car unlocked because rear quarter windows were getting expensive. If they want it bad enough nothing is safe. I say an alarm with a built in kill switch.

i would invest in a flame thrower system or electric feild system as seen in 007 movies

anyways, this is a big concern for me as i would end up killing sombody if i ever cought them ( no joke) when i start to get soem money i wil probably do somthing that charges the door handles with a good 100-200 volts. or jsut buy a removable steering wheel. that probably the first thing im going to do. deafning alarms system wont hurt either. anythign that causes severe pain to somebody is good enough for me.

That reminds me, after I moved half a year ago (only abour a few blocks) someone stole my bike from my backyard, my BACKYARD. bastard.

Then he had the gall to come and use the bike to come and steal other things (like tools, a large speaker, and my wash mitt) My neighbor saw him but he was on my bike so he got away. I have a large electric gate now (mainly because of this) so I dont really worry about it anymore.

I have motion sensing lights a mean-looking dog and me. I live in a small villiage where everybody knows everybody and after a set of wheels went on walkabout I mentioned in passing to the guy who I know did it that I would not call the police if I caugt the ****er, I would "deal with him". Knock on formica, nothing swiped since then. The word is out that the crazy foreigner at the top of the hill don't play games. I try to keep my cars low key these days, no flashy paint, easily accesible intercoolers, visible guages or computers things like that. Unfortunately if somebody really wants your stuff they ar going to get it. All you can do is make it as difficult as possible to do so they move on to easier prey. Good luck!

LOL...that's pretty good. You should have asked him if he knew where to buy some duct tape and really thick rope.

As for me, I just leave a live scorpion on the driver's seat when I park the car. I give him a little blanket and a tiny cup of coffee to keep him warm at night.

Would you steal a car with this in it?

Oh, I have an alarm too. Really, I don't lose too much sleep over the whole theft thing. I'll take reasonable precautions to keep my car from getting stolen, but if it does I'll get the insurance $$$ and buy a nice old Z or something.

in all honesty? sleeper has been theway to go for me for the last 4 years, no one's messed with it. But more and more these days ppl are noticing the 240... so i'm probably going to invest in an alarm (to get the insurance discount) and wire my own kill switch(for my own peace of mind).

Strange...you know what, that's what happened to my last bicycle...but I believe it was a conspiracy. My dad INSISTED that I leave the bike out in the backyard scince "it took up too much space inside" next morning it was GONE. I loved that bike...and my new one's falling apart lol.

I think he owes me a car. don't you?

but cars really don't get stolen like THAT over here, yet most people do use alarms. it would have been ludicrous to try and steal an evo b4 but now it's like they're taking over the island! so it might just happen soon.

oh yeah. this one time, there was a 240sx just sitting outside of a store, windows down, running, music blasting, no-one in it. I would've seriously taken it if the island wasn't so small, and for that matter I was with my mom lol. it was too much to handle
