1) When I park, my seatbelt often gets snagged on the seat control knobs, so that the next time I climb in the car and tug the belt to fasten it, the seat changes position. I know how the program the 2 memory switches, but that's still vexing.

2) There have been quite a few posts about radios going bad. I'm currently nursing the world's most finicky volume knob. My local Nissan specialty shop says that that's a common problem, and you can't fix it with contact cleaner or anything like that. I've got a junk yard pull ready to install when mine finally dies, but I have a nagging doubt as to whether that will be any better. It's been 80 years since Wavering and Lear made the first car radio - hasn't that been enough time to figure out how to make one that lasts, or - failing that - how to make one that's reasonable to repair?

3) {No third complaint yet, but give me time}.

That all having been said, I drove 300 interstate miles for work the other day, and the Q combined the best features of a leather couch and a magic carpet. I even got better than 20 mpg despite going about 80 mph nearly the whole way.

I dislike

1. The over-complication of assembly/disassembly of parts for simple things. Why the hell do I need to detach the F-ing crossmember with it's hard to reach phantom bolt, just to look in my oil pan?

2. I've been noticing that my damn fuel door keeps opening. At first I thought it was a huge issue. It turns out that I can't keep anything in my left pocket of my jeans. It hits the fuel door release and I look like an idiot driving around.

2a. Still the fuel door. I hate how the gas station attendant never seems able to close it properly. I have to get out and show him to just push. then push a little harder until it latches.

3. How the water accumulates after a rain shower on the roof. Even just morning dew. I hit the wipers, give it a couple of passes on the windshield and everythings is good. Until I come to a stop at a stop sign or light, then a torrent of water comes flying down the windshield again.

I'm sure there are more, but I'll wait until the next go around.

P.S. That damn driver's door is conspiring to cripple me. My left shin has a permanent indentation. I thought it was only me.

3- Reminder screen for oil and low gas pops up when you are backing up and watching the rear view screen.

2- In the winter if climate control is set to manual with the fan blowing, you get a big blast of ice cold air at start up. (I set it to manual in the winter because my car is black on black and if it sits in the sun the a/c comes in auto mode.)

3- Low fuel reminder light comes on at 1/4 tank. I filled up soon after the light came on once and it took 15.5 gal to fill and the tank holds 22 gallons.

1) Engine is only 4.5L. It ought to be around 7L. They should have just made it the same as the v8 but with 4 more cylinders for a 6.8L V12.

2) Needs a deeper overdrive for lower cruising rpm AND a looser torque converter (looser for massive burnouts but keep the lockup function for the low rpm cruising efficiency).

3) The front bumper. It always reminds me of a dolphin from the front but everything else about the car looks good.

I've never experienced this in my Q-in fact, I think it's great!

The fuel tank is right behind the rear seat.

98 q45

The first 2 things I hate. The last is just a minor complaint. Otherwise I love my Q45. Oh and my doors seem to close by themselves too. It doesnt bother me too much though.

#1 Slow for a V8

#2 Terrible gas mileage for being so slow

#3 Smallish trunk

Now the 3 things I do like about it.

#3 The interior is great. Leather looks good. All buttons look new and all lights work. #2 The features. Heated seats and side view mirrors, auto lights, antilock brakes, vehicle stability, and the Bose stereo. #1 Mentioned in 2 and 3 but overall quality has to be the thing I like most.

You should try the G50. Eliminates dislikes 1 & 3, and possibly #2 as well. I paid $26 to fill up from half a tank on Monday morning. 92 octane. This will last me until Sunday night/Monday morning. At that point, I should be down to half a tank again.

Yeah, I know, I got the slow Q45.

I'd pretty much take any MPG for an extra 100 horsepower.

Yes, we all know where the gas tank is...

If they'd put it where it's located in every other sedan, we'd have a fold-down rear seat and a decent-sized trunk!

The headlamp switch is yet another pet peeve: The headlamps are too easy to accidentally shut off when you press the turn signal lever - And the AUTO headlamp position should be the last stop on the switch, rather than the second.

Here are a few pet peeves about my Q, mostly when it was new to me:1995 Q45The same water issue when opening window on day after rain. The button console on the driver's door took some getting used to. Searched wide and low for the trunk & fuel release (looked on the floor) only to find it on the door. Window and power seat buttons were confusing at first. Every time I take the car to a shop some grease monkey pushes ALL the buttons before he figures out how to lower the window (I often find my seat all the way back and reclined). Child window lock switch should be on driver's door, not center console (you can reach it from the back seat, Duh).I've pulled the fuse box cover off sometimes, thinking I'm pulling the hood release. Hood release latch was not easy to immediately find under hood.Glove compartment too small. Rear glove box lid hinges went limp.Vinyl trim around maplight console came loose.Rear view mirror auto-dim. Mirror never gets dark enough at night.Low front bumper cowl. Most Qs I looked at had curb rash on bottom area of front bumper.Body sheet metal is a little too thin. Dings and dents occur too easily. Have had to do too much PDR.Cheap vinyl interior trim. Especially on driver's door above arm rest, where most Qs I've seen have an elbow mark rubbed in. Had to fix mine with a vinyl repair kit, which worked very well. Now, the thing I LOVE most about my Q?The look of redneck utter disbelief when I roar past F150, Mustang Cobra, M3, LS400, etc.

Wouldn't you notice if the kid reaches between the seats to unlock the windows? All it takes is one backhand, and they'll learn.

I thought I was the only one with curb rash on that cowl. My scuff marks come from hitting those damn cement bumpers in parking spaces. The Q is so long that I always misjudge my position. Either I'm parked too far back, or I'm hitting the cement and I have to back up a skosh, all the while looking around to see who saw me do that.

I've beaten a Mustang too. It's awesome. Sometimes, I stage myself, like I'm ready to go, and then when the light changes, I nonchalantly let them get about half a car length. Then I go in for the kill. It's great.

I've pulled that damn fuse cover searching for the hood latch countless times. That thing is annoying isn't it?

I wish I had an auto dimming rear view. At night, it gets annoying. My 94 Grand Cherokee had it, and I never appreciated it. At least the Q's door mirrors have some dimming capabilities.

1. Cup Holders. I hate that afterthought thing.2. Trunk space.3. The driver's window switch and the child window lock should "switch places".

There's more but these are my three.

I've never had an issue with trunk space. It looks like it would fit about 2 bodies.

lol.

I've managed to fit a laptop bag (2 notebooks, 2 external HDD, assorted wires and cables), two cases of Poland Spring (35 count), a case of Arizona Green Tea (24 count tall cans), a medium sized suitcase, half of my closets (on hangers) and a backpack in the trunk on the way to school. The trunk lid closed normally and from the outside, you couldn't tell it was stuffed to the gills.

I played a lot of Tetris growing up.

The G50 is doesn't have a very big trunk, nor is it that much faster, come on. And good gas mileage, i got worse in my Dad 92' than I get in my 97' the Q's all have small trunks due to that stupid gas tank being where it is. I know, everyone chimes in and says "safety" so why is this the only car with it, so my list:

1. Small back seat (ditto for the 92' I had for 6 months)2. Small trunk (ditto for the 92')3. Lack of easily accessable speed improvement parts, tied with gas mileage. But mine went down with 19" rims by 2-3 mpg so my own fault.

the 97' also fixes most of the issues the G50 guys have, good cup holders which I use all the time, auto mirros, no issues with water on sun roof. My doors stay open, not sure whats up with that. And last I 'd like the analog clock, the 97' is pretty much the only digital.

You know Goody started this thread as he was in a (understandably) bad mood. I hate to see this turning into a Q bashing. I really like my Q and had to struggle to think of a few things. What we need is a three things you Love about your Q thread!

1. Stylish Looks, really unique in 1994. I just love the looks of it, especially from the rear as it drives off.2. Big V8. Even if it's pushing a 4500lb sled around, I like having it there.3. I feel special driving around in my $50k luxury sedan! The more I fix, the more I like it.

But the 97 is ugly as sin.

Not really, but I prefer the G50. What the hell are you guys lugging around that you find insufficient storage room in the trunk? I moved onto campus for the fall semester with my G50. All by my lonesome. I fit a ton of stuff in the trunk and had two storage bins on the back seats.

I've never had to sit in my back seat so I could really care less. I don't really let more than one person ride in my car with me anyway. The times that I have sat back there to clean various things, I found the seats to be VERY cushy and comfortable.

I have to agree with Dan. The Q45 G50 rear end is so unique and distinct. I love it. I need to have a video of myself just accelerating. You know, take a walk in the loser's shoes so I can empathize with them. I love being behind the wheel of this car. As me being young, and having older drivers come and gawk and ask questions does magnificent things for the ego.

My Q45 is a bad mofo.

I can still fit all the drums I need to do a gig and all the signs I need. I just wish it had a little more depth, and the door was a little longer so the trunk floor was accessible without having to dip into it.
