The basic message that they spew is that this and other deaths are America's punishment for allowing homosexuality. All I have to say is that anyone "protesting" at the funeral of one of my loved ones would be lucky to be able to drink through a straw when I was done.

They showed up at the funeral of the family of a co-worker of mine, and honestly, I think that the Baltimore City Police handled it in the best way possible: IGNORE THEM. They barricaded them off so that they could not cross the street, and then would not allow anyone to go near them and no news channels were allowed to film them. They left within 15 mins of receiving no attention.

My Co-worker was the one driving the van that was struck and his whole family was killed (Wife, 2 children, 2 step-children). One of his step-children and himself were the only two that survived (except for, of course, the drunk driver). Saddest funeral that I will probably ever attend.

These people are a sad breed but not much different than most "christians" of today. Everyone seems to get religion wrong in a sense because the whole concept of religion is open to interpretation. No single group can say they have it right because someone else somewhere will always say that person is wrong. My guess, good people of faith will end up in heaven and God will be there laughing, saying that they still got it wrong but to come on in anyways. But not the guys from Westboro...they don't get to come in.

They didn't decide not to picket out of choice. AZ made it illegal to protest within a certain distance of a funeral, and within certain time restrictions around a funeral.
