Friend bought a Jeep. I pitched in a grand toward the purchase so I'll be enjoying it this summer and might buy it off him entirely in the fall. Its a 2006 with 27k.

Here's some blurry pics of a trip to Wichita. Forgot my camera, so you'll have to tolerate the phone pics.

Spun out on I-70. Ouch.

Once the wind died down it was reasonably quiet and rode nicely.

Overdrive button was good for passing.

Keeps spitting gasoline when the filler nears the top. Messy and annoying.

Sunken Miata. :(

That's it.

Cool Jeep.

Was the Miata driven into a lake or did it just get rained on... a lot?

The Miata driver probably drove down the road thinking the water was minor, then got stuck and swam out.

Jesda, nice jeep. I always come into your threads wondering what you ate on your trips more so than what you did.

Looks pretty good mang. Sucks about the miata, you should have put the jeep to the test and towed him out.

+1. I feel like every Miata owner should know that over 2 inches of water will drown their mini-car. lol.

I've wanted a jeep since I was in high school, but everyone that owns one tells me I don't??

A co-worker had one that ate spark plugs, the dealer kept replacing them and it would start running rough, only to find another plug had "gone bad" was all they ever told him ... keep an eye on the plugs :)

The 4.0l are great motors. The transmission's were ok for stock related things but if you plan on lifting it and throwing some bigger tires on it keep an eye on it.I'd recommend a temp gauge for it.For a lift and mild wheeling a coil spacer front and rear will do ya fine to free up some articulation.
IF your looking for something a little more on the trail bashing side find some rubicon axles(even being dana 30 inners) will stand up better than the dana 35 and 30 front, and either buy a clayton or rusty's long arm kit and run some 35's on it.Keep an eye on the 4.0l as the inline 6's(4.2,and 4.0) like to kinda pig on oil, although doubtful on a 27k motor.
They are great vehicles to own.Nothing better than running half doors(or no doors) and no top down the highway in the middle of summer.Enjoy it and if you're looking for some info on anything about jeeps hit pirate4x4.com and go to the jeep hardcore tech or jeep newbie section. The guys are ***holes over at pirate so be careful and search before asking.

Tried to shove two copiers in it today, a task the Saab and Cadillac have no trouble doing. That soft top is a major PITA. I was hoping to use it for cargo.

Maybe I'll sell my share and go find a Ford Ranger or Legacy Wagon.

Cool. But, the 4 liter and it's problems?

I hear nasty things all the time.

2.3 Pinto powered Ranger! DO IT. You won't regret it. 2.3 + 5 speed = awesome.

Regret which? The Ford, the Subaru, or acquiring full ownership of the Wrangler?

The Ford. the Subie, only if you want to haul something huge.

No way. Maybe if we were talking Escort or something. But the Ranger's idiot-proof (and probably apocalypse-proof).
Unless, that is, you get the V6 with the 5-speed, which don't get along. But the 2.3's more than enough engine for hauling copiers, books, and trees, so that shouldn't be an issue.

Best thing about the Ranger - you can get parts from Ford OR Mazda :)

Seriously - dump the Jeep - (personal experience with a failed ECU/Alarm Control {whateverthehecktheycallit}... I fixed it by trading it for my Maxima.
