So I took my S14 swapped S13 out to the local test and tune yesterday and was decently suprised.

Ran a 12.83 @ 113 with a 2.2 60ft

Mods:S14 Swap (Ball Bearing T28)15psiDown PipeExhaustWalbro 255IntercoolerZ32 MAF550cc InjectorsJ30 Rear EndEnthralpy ECUStill Untuned (Running in the 10.2-10.3 range on the wideband)Stage 3 Clutch (not verified but it snatches like one)195/60/15 Bridgestone Potenzas

Well on the 4th pass the car wheel hopps twice and then clunk! So heres the scoop...

-transmission will go in every gear not a problem no noises or harsh engagement-Clutch goes in and out with a harsh bit like usual no noises-DIRVESHAFT DOES NOT SPIN, BUT it is not hanging or any visual damage

Just thought I would take bets as to what the problem was? Any takers....Ive had numerous mechanics say clutch but it cant be (not ruling it out but the signs arent there) no noise or any symptoms.

Any ideas? I will be taking it apart tomorrow or by midweek to diagnose, my guess is maybe the input shaft is broken at the transmission?

To peep inputshaft..remove slave..pull rubber boot off carefully slides right off..shine light in and inspect. Should be able to tell easily if it snapped.

When you broke it did it hang down or did it break internally?

do you hear the transmission gears and stuff turning inside the trans when the clutch pedal is released?..if so then its not the input shaft...more than likley its the output shaft..if you dont hear anything then your input shaft has broke..sorry man

Drop the transmission and look. Takes all of 30 minutes if you work slowly.

It was hanging so I knew what had happened. I dident want a half fixed old warn out DS so I payed the extra $115 for a New shaftmasters 1 piece alm. DS.

Yeah I seen it too many times on evo. I swear first time I seen I thought a bird got caught up and blow n up. Thats would it looks like.

I've see a input shaft that broke on a gsx. The transmission was stuck and we had to buy trolly chair to push it.

Ok dust boot taken of and it looks as if someone dropped a bag of soot in there, but it just maybe dirty. I will be keeping an update tomorrow as the transmission will be coming down. doesnt look to hard to take down at all...if its the clutch I see everyone has had their fair share of problems with every brand?

Also in any gear theres no noise and the clutch pedal is hard like normal...i am more interested to see what broke then I am worried about the cra broken lol

dont know why the slip is needed but I am the right lane...

So I thought it was the Clutch, Drive Shaft or transmission...Turns out its ALL THREE..the output shaft on the transmission broke off into the drveshaft and its stripped out while doing so so the driveshaft is no good too the clutch looks like it has maybe 10k miles left on it. Also the pressure plate looks to be act and the disc is a oem exedy, so boo to the retard that put that together.

My next question is is it possible to swap out a output shaft on a sr transmission? and the SR and KA trannies are identical anyway right (I have a KA one lying around) <-havent searched yet

If the output shaft on the trans broke right under the shifter that is exactly what I did to mine. Rebuild using KA parts, is alot cheaper than finding a sr transmission. Thats what I did dint take long a few hours and ur done. Given that U have some experience with manual transmissions.

yea thats what i am going to do...by chance did you use new factory parts or did you just get a KA transmission and swap them over? Also isnt the KA transmission identical to the SR? Thanks for the help soldiers!

I used a used KA24DE trans. Bought it from a junkyard for 130 bucks. They are the same transmissions and was relatively easy to do.

Wow thats a good time. If you could get some traction and get the 60' times down then you could be even faster yet. What state are you located in? Altitude is a killer where I am from.

just thinking out loud you could have broken a spring of of the clutch and shougt it out into your bell housing. i only seen this once but it sounds the same a pop and clunk every once and a while

All the springs are there and I have done that a few times before on different cars but the clutch will still engage no matter what...unlike a broken output shaft the car wil not move at all

Ok so i put everything back together had a bit of a time with the transmission going on I kind of forced it by tightening the bolts to get it to mate properly. Loaded it up with fluids blead the clutch and went to start it and a loud loud screaching clanking noise came about. From searching around looks to be the position of the starter? Not sure but it sounds pretty bad going to remove the starter and inspect it all. I never removed the flywheen and I am reusinf the same starter.

Alright as retarded as is sounds its actually possible to "overtighten the starter" I loosened it and retightened to a little snug and VROOM VROOM!

Everything seems good but for some reason it seems as if the clutch isnt as hard as it was and the car seems to break up under boost...Ill keep an eye on things after around 500 or so miles
