weird timing thing

ok so i set my timing with the TPS disconnected like recommended by nissan and its set at 15* the second i plug the TPS in the timing jumps 20* so its before the 0* mark. Any one wanna chime in on this? Maybe i wired the q45 TPS in wrong. this is on a rb25 s2 so i couldnt use the stock TPS sensor. I went off the wiring in a post on this forum. Also i do not have the idle switch wired in. Maybe i should?

I haven't got my RB in yet, but my KA did something similar. You unplug the TPS to set the base timing, which stops the computer from advancing or changing the timing. Once you plug the TPS back in, the ECU takes control of timing again and changes it however it feels necessary which is probably what you're seeing..

but why at 800rpm would the timing be 0*? that doesnt seem right. im just tryin to figure out why i have no power up top

As the others said I am a bit confused about the problem. Once you plug the TPS in the computer is likely taking back control of the timing which is why you see it jump around near 20*.

So what exactly do you mean it is at 0?

noooo once the TPS is plugged back in it jumps to 0* the first mark on the left of the pulley. I think that i might have an auto ecu and the fact that i dont have a idle switch wired in is throwing it off somehow
