okay so i tried to time the car yesterday. i foolowed these directions that i found by searching the forums

Quote »Step One : Remove spark plug cover

Step Two : Pull the clip on the first coil pack off

Step Three : Remove the two screws that hold it to the coil pack rail

Step Four : Pull the First coil pack out

Step Five : This step is up to you, but you can use a jumper wire from the coil pack to the spark plug or just a peice of wire thats a good size in gauge and use it to connect it.

Step Six : Connect the sensor for the timing light onto that wire and then put the Power wires for the timing light on the positive battery terminal and on the Ground terminal/chasis ground

Step Seven : Loosen the three Cam angle sensor bolts.

Step Eight Turn on engine

Step Nine : Unplug the TPS sensor and subharness

Step Ten : Aim light at the crank pulley with trigger pulled and adjust the CAS untill you've reached FOURTH MARK on the pulley which is 15 degrees, now you might have to adjust it minus one or plus one degree for idle.

Step Eleven : Turn Off engine once desired timing is set and tighten down the cas and put everything back together, Drive and enjoy. [/quote]the only things i didnt follow in these directions is 1. i couldnt unplug the subharness or the car would die instantly. 2. i didnt use the spark plug wire. i used the white wire on coil pack 1. anyways by looking at this picture you can see my CAS is clocked all the way.

with the CAS clocked all the way like that the timing is sitting in between the 4th and 5th mark. so i tried to unplug the TPS and subharness before turning on the car. i set the CAS back to the middle and turned the car on. i was then allowed to move the CAS till the timing was dead on the 4th mark where it is suppose to be. i turn off the car. plug up the TPS and sub. button up the CAS and turn the car on again and the timing is WAY off again. so i tried again but this time i only unplugged the TPS and not the sub while the car was on and now the picture above is how my CAS is sitting and i still sit inbetween the 4th and 5th mark. can anyone give me an idea of what im doing wrong?

might wanna re-do your steps again, by include try re-setting the ecu, or setting your tps volts before checking the timing.

check to see if ur iac and maf are good too?

i dont know what else to say to help ya i kinda not good at these things.
