Dad was the first person to redline my car from a dead stop. He was impressed, but he kept stating the mustang was faster. Which, at the time was true. I was only pushing stock 7psi when he did that. Of course, he had to go do a dead stop pull in his 'stang to show off to me. I laughed on the inside b/c there's a good 1/4 mile stretch in front of his neighborhood. I hit the end doing about 95 or so one time. He was just hitting 80 by the end of that stretch when he had me in the 'stang.

haha thats pretty funny. yeah im just a hair slower than my dads auto 72 chevelle w/ 350. i was following him to a family reunion when i dailyed the NA fc, when we hit an abandoned road he just gave it a little to see if i could keep up. i took every gear to 8k rpms and he put 4-5 cars on me and this was in bad need of a tune up and only hitting on 7 cylinders. when we got out he said "what happened i barely pushed the pedal down". now that i have the sr i was only a hair slower, not for long though, hes in teh middle of swapping on dart heads. i woudl also joke that my 2 liter is almost as fast as his 5.7L, he woudl just laugh and point to the 454 being built up for the 71 chevelle. 365hp from teh factory and thats underrated

I think 2500 dry is not gonna be that hard. Don't forget little things like eliminating the windscreen wiper fluid reservoir and its fluid. Maybe 4-5lbs there. You also need to think about the sound deadening material as I'm sure thats a good source of dead weight on the car to remove.

Also, if this isn't a street car anymore, have you considered seam welding the chassis to improve rigidity?

Interesting are those weights wet? I weighed my stock 97 manual SE a while back with a half a tank of gas and no driver and I was at 2760. I cant help but think that I can get the thing a fair bit lighter by taking out trunk interior, rear seats, and maybe the sound deadening stuff.

hahahaha nothing like a mod that actually apprecates a good thread jack.

on topic though to appease you, 2500 isnt very hard to hit at all, take the factory weight of the car and subtract form it the weight of every part removed or the difference in weight between factory parts and lightweight parts used

Just remeber to add in weight for additions. Your roll cage isn't exactly weightless.

But in short, for the amount you remove, you won't be putting that much back in. 2500 is very reasonable. Especially cutting 5 gallons of fuel out of the backside.
