Here's some of my pics, combined camera and cell phone, I hope you can tell the difference, my phone is ancient!
Woke up thursday morning and awaited Ryan (Float_6969) to arrive at my house. We loaded up, and went to pick up Jimmy (Speckid14). From there we headed north and stopped for lunch at Hooters near Kansas City Int'l airport. Pretty good staff, except we had to nearly paint pictures for our waitress. Otherwise mildly better than usual food/experience. Oh, and Ryan got to pack his fudge with his cheesecake.
We passed this just inside Missouri
After we arrived at the hotel, we were pleasantly greated by fancy water features and an 8 story atrium, fancy fancy fancy!
After a day at the track, we stopped to get gas at this gas station near the hotel. Note the boxed-in flat screen tv and the JBL speaker, each row had one!
Also, that gas station had one of these that were a topic with Beaner and a few other from a couple months back. I tried it, and it was awesome!
For lunch on track days, we all liked going to this little town called Plattsmouth, IA. Now to get there, you have to go down the gravel road over the train tracks, hit a side highway, and follow that around to a bridge. Now at the bridge, it says 15mph and it's very narrow, and it has a little yellow sign that says 'Toll Bridge Ahead' ...... we all thought that was a joke, no gates or anything. At the other side of the bridge, there's a little shanty, and inside this shanty is two little old ladies that ask you, "Hun" or "Honey", for $1.25 for driving the bridge. From there you drive on roads similar to the ozarks all the way into town where the speed limit is 20mph and Sheriff Joe is sitting there with one of those new-fangled radar gunning thingies. Take a left on 6th street and arrive at Godfather's Pizza.
The River was up while we were up there, probably flooded the few days after.
On Saturday Seth (eikon), SentraStace, James (papasmurf2k3) and myself headed up to the tower to get some pictures from the catwalk over the finish line of the track. It was cool and air conditioned so we found ourselves relaxing in some padded chairs watching the cars go by, and that made us feel a little guilty, but not enough to leave, lol!
View of the drag strip from the tower.
On the way back from that track saturday Ryan and Jimmy were both asleep snoring, I tried to be a photo ninja but i'm white, so ryan caught me.
Jimmy however, did not, and proceeded to drool away in the back seat.
A few car show pics:
Randoms.
The hotel room.
Now on the way home, after we dropped Jimmy off, Ryan calls out "oh, yellow GTR... didn't know they made them in that color." I was like... uhhh, what? ... so we decided to check it out. Low and behold, here's the GTR that our very own CA moderator saw:
Yes, that's a very rare, JDM, convertible top Mitsubishi eclipse GTR!
Sorry Ryan, I had to! Much love brotha!
SOOOOOOOOOO much fun, if you weren't there, we really can't explain how badly you missed out. It was way better than the big events in many ways, and really got to know people. Can't wait for another one!
