I was out with a friend at six flags last night and he saw this S14 Kouki that he had taken some interest in after seeing this ad:

http://atlanta.craigslist.org/cto/845140393.html

now, I am all for a well built car so when I heard about it I looked at it and had a couple of issues with the setup and the tune obvious when reading the list.

So my friend talks to this guy. He says he owns a shop and the car is well built and well tuned.

He says he has an S14 t-28 and he is making about 450 whp on 850cc injectors and a power fc. My friend is not an idiot. He drives a sr20 with a 2871R and he doesn't make 450whp so he asks a few questions and shrugs off the lies...but my point is

be careful who you are talking to about buying built cars. Some people will tell you their cars are made with gold pistons and silver rods with space aged metallic allow rings that will never blow...

Make sure you learn about how this stuff works so you don't talk to a guy like this and leave thinking you are buying a well tuned Z06 killer. I am tired of running across 800hp t-25

Perfect opportunity to bust him out! I live in the sticks but people around here are mean when it comes to cars and if you show up, obviously talking about stuff you know nothing about or just flat out lying, you will get busted out big time! But yes, you are so right about everything you said and thank you for saying it!

I hate people like that, I greatly enjoy asking them about thier setups, and when they give impossible numbers or facts I enjoy pointing out the inconsistencies.

me too, but at some point it is just a waist of time because by the time they have told me they are getting that kind of power out of a T-28 I have already turned off and deemed that person a waste of time and fresh air.

you do realize guys that 97-98 240sxs autos and 5 speeds with 125 thousand plus miles are going for 10-12 grand stock and 95-96 240sxs are going for 5-8 grand --- I am looking for another 97-98 right now and they are hard as hell to find. If you can get one for 5-6 grand which these are few and far between you better buy it asap......

you should read my post...

I think the price is great. I drive a kouki and in Atlanta people are asking 7k for 5 speeds. but read the first post...

if anyone is buying them for 10 grand stock then they are not that smart because you would save money going to get one for 6 or seven somewhere else and driving it to AR and I am going to drive my car out to AR and sell it for 20 k with all the mods that are on it and un-tuned.

the only problem when you do this is that they believe they are right no matter what and can get very angry

So very true.

It is amazing to me how much pride ignorant people can take in crappy work. I typically think my setups are good, but I am more than open to hearing criticism from people who have noted experience. But this guy...is not one of those people.
