Yeah, that's a big time fail. My buddy is paying twice as much now as when he did when he first signed up.

It was like $7.99 when I first sign up,I'm paying about $9.99 right now. This will be the second price raise in less than 12 months. For what I'm getting right now they're raising the price to $14.99.

Bonehead business decision. I'm gonna look an eye on their stock.

Expect new competitors to start to emerge. Wouldn't be surprised if Google tried to start something.

I mostly stream my netflix, i just wish they had the whole collection available for stream. With the DVD's you can get all the new releases. With streaming you only get some new movies usually not the good ones, and 10 year old movies. Sometimes they will let a good movie or 2 get to streaming but for the most part the DVD's are the way to go for new releases. I think it's just a scam to make you buy for both deals.

I just checked my e-mail.
Netflix wrote: Your price for getting both of these plans will be $23.98 a month ($7.99 + $15.99). You don't need to do anything to continue your memberships for both unlimited streaming and unlimited DVDs.
they must be high!
and yes I will cancel my subscription as soon as i return the DVDsI have at home.

I like how Jessie Becker wrote "Our lowest price ever" after a 60% increase for basic membership.

XM did this a few years ago. Instead of $9.99 for everything, you could get a handful of channels for $8.

Yeah I'm annoyed by this. I'm probably just going to stick with streaming only until Google takes over everything.

F*** you, Netflix. I got you, hoping that your Instant Queue would feed my instant gratification and I would stop torrenting. But you have failed me miserably. Cancelling IMMEDIATELY.

I cancelled my subscription after the first month because the Canadian version doesn't have anything at all. It is all waiting to be copy right approved or whatever.

It'll be interesting to see if they reverse course after enough people quit.

Thats just absurd. I couldn't even watch enough movies to justify the cost of Netflix. The Red Box and Blockbuster do the job just fine.
Sad thing is, I damn near signed up for Netflix a couple of days ago and I'm glad I procrastinated and took a dump and forgot about them instead.

Well, he is technically correct. Previously if you wanted a disc in the mail the cheapest package was $9.99. But, you got streaming along with that. Now, if you only care about the disc and NOT the streaming, you can get it for only $7.99 or whatever.

Anyway, I'm probably going to cancel as well. I have a streaming-only membership that doesn't get used often enough for it to be worthwhile. Additionally, the HD streaming isn't that impressive and is limited to two-channel audio on everything but the PS3 (which I will never own). I'll go ahead and use that money to buy one blu-ray per month. Should be an acceptable trade.

I'm actually happy about this. I was paying for the 1-disc with blu-ray option before. The last DVD I received was in October of last year and I still haven't watched it. Yet I probably watch 12 hours of streaming content a week (all series). So this actually saves me $4.00 a month by not forcing me to pay for a service that I don't use (DVDs).

I'd gladly pay $10 a month for streaming-only if they got AMC and HBO on board.

I've had their streaming only service for about 4 months now and love it, I watch stuff on it pretty regularly so I get my moneys worth. I personally despised their DVD by mail service when I had it, because I hardly ever got what I had at the top of my list. If I want to watch a movie I usually go to Redbox or rent it on my Xbox, plus Dish Network gives me free PPV certificates occasionally too.

I've been with netflix only a bit over a month, and i only stream. I honestly have watched maybe 3 movies or so? I watch the tv series that they offer, as well as different documentaries, and things like that. worth the 7.99 thus far.

What's the point of HD tvs and 7.1 surround sound if you're just going to compress the hell out of a movie and stream it over the internet? I'm not going to be a fan of streaming until 100Mbps is common place. Streaming should've remained free bonus because it can only deliver a half-assed product.

Some people gain, most people lose on this move. I am one of those that will suffer because I use both streaming and DVD. I will most likely downgrade my package to DVD only.

By the way, try posting comments on their Facebook page. It will not last 10 seconds before it gets deleted.

When we first joined Netflix, it was about $5 a month ... we kept forgetting to get the single DVD's in the mail. Eventually, we cancelled the account entirely - simpler to just buy the ones we want to watch or get it on the satellite service we have. Cheaper to just pay the few bucks that Dish Network charges for the occasional movie we download and watch.
