Some secrets need to be kept secrets. That road is a special one for me. That is where I go to open up the beast in my G. I am still surprised as to how empty and unused the road really is. The road has two lanse on either side--which makes it even more fun---very long and twisty road.

didn't read all the posts, but that one caught my eye....

actually, I have driven some hondas that I liked. We bought my son a used 89 civic si for his first car years ago and it was a cool little car! $1,500

sentient;

yes, i agree with you. The Celica GT can be very responsive. I drove a early/late 90s model---the model with the curved front and not the recent models with the straight front face. It was quite fun to drive.

Another car I loved very much and i beleive if Mazda had kept up with it, could have ben the true competitor to the Nissan GT-R. That car is the Mazda MX-6---really unbeleivable acceleration and unbelievable reliability for a car---a stick shift. I think it had a turbo, and when it kicked in, you were pinned down in the seats. This was a great car.

If Mazda decided to come up with the MX-6 once again, I might give it a look. I flogged a friend's Mazda MX-6 in 1998 and took it up to 1** miles an hour. This car was plenty capable, sturdy, and did not have a single hiccup at those speeds, and it reached that speed quite easily without any struggles. I refuse to belive that the mazda Speed 6 is the same as the MX-6. I may be wrong, but it looks highly unlikely. Then, if it is, then it explains why the Mazda speed 6 is already impressing me.

Till date none of the turbo charged Hondas I have met have even come close to matching the awesome power of my G. Almost always they rev up their turbos for the high RPM range and then they get stuck trying to catch up.

so far, only 8 cylinder cars like LS460, and Vettes have been able to really put my G-35 in its place. Even the BMW 3.35i 4 door has not been able to do so. However, it maybe a different case with the 2 door 3.35i----I don't know. Only one mustang came close and at the top end, he began to wither a little bit.

Finally, the G-35 Coupe and 350Z are not the best drag cars---they have never been. They are however, supremely designed for track and curves. I will bet you $10,000 that a slightly moded G-35 Coupe or 350 Z with small modifications will spank, second by second, a twin turboed Civic Si, a Mazda 3 speed or even a Dodge SRT - 8, on a 2 mile windy road course. This is the secret and fun of having the G-35 coupe or the 350Z.
Twin turboed Civic Si would have over 300 whp. I would say it would be very difficult unless you just race people who don't know how to drive.

I drift, so I only drive RWD, but Civic and Integra are fast on corners. More for tracks than V35 coupe, which happens to be a GT.

Well first off i would like to know who is losing to a honda and the should sell there car and get something else. and i have personal experience with racing hondas and a rx8. the hondas pull up next to me and i try to get them to race and they shake there head and back off. the rx8 i gave 1 1/2 cars doing 45 on the free way and waxed it. no competion. if you drive the car to race turn the vdc off. if you drive it to look cool sell your car and let somewho loves a car have it. and in closing i would like to say if you wanted a honda or a mazda or anything else like that you would not be driving a 30thousand dollar car off the lot to begin with...you get what you pay for

That all makes a lot of sense. So if a stock 298hp g35 coupe had the pop charger , z tube, intake and exhaust done how much hp estimate could it produce?

Ask people who own rx8s. The only reason they bought it was because they couldn't afford a 350z.

If these cars are flogging the G-35 Coupe, it is mainly because of their lighter weight. The weight issue is where the G-35 Coupe has issues. But a Turbo or S/C can take care of that.

With mods, the G-35 Coupe 6mt is probably capable of 306 - 310 horses at the crank (conservative estimates). A moded out G-35 Coupe is just as capable as a moded out Mustang.

But remember, in curves and turns, these little Hondas and SRT-4s or all what not, are no where capable or similar to a G-35 Coupe. The G-35 Coupe will flog them on curves and turns.

At the end of the day... What would you rather be driving? Of course a G. It's sexy looking, fast, and it can be modified to supercar status for far less the cost of even the bargain GTR.

Jacko,

You must be pretty talented driver. On twisty, especially downhill, it is common fact for lighter car to be fast. Just imagine. if you have 300 HP, but you cannot push it, but you have 200 HP and you can push it. Which would be faster? On twisty road, weight does mean alot.

Please don't get me wrong though. My 08 G35 6MT is my second Skyline. I loved my first R32 Skyline, and would never drive Civic. But provided drivers are equal, Civic on twisty downhill could be very fast.
