Wasted a new Eclipse V6

I do belive cory, but if i were on the road, and saw a random stock 240 and a random stock eclipse GT line up to race, i would put my money on the GT. The numbers favor the GT.

I certainly think the 240sx is a better car though

Well, I said SOME of you =) I agree though, like I said, the numbers do favor the GT, but its still close enough where it would still be possible, but I would also bet on the GT.

Man i must have one **** box of a 240 then. ohwell it will be fast one day, then it will bore me and i will have to make it faster. I belive that cory beat the GT, i mean anything is posable. just from my own experince i would not beat one. as i dont beat 99+v6 mustangs - wish i did, would have really pissed off my friend. i am glad to see things come down a little from where they where, and my only remaining question is why cory got ride of a GN i mean there bad ***. laters

Driving down the highway and some kid in a lowered Eclipse GT with aftermarket exhaust revs at my 240. All I have, performance-wise, is an Injen intake and Apexi N1 single. He speeds past as he revs and gets several car lengths ahead. Well, naturally I don't take too kindly to that jesture, so, I catch up and get beside him. He drops gears, I put it in 3rd and we hit it. I pulled him by a car from 65 to about 90. Those things have 200HP and 200ft. lbs. What a POS!! It's basically my first race race in my 240. I'm used to killing vettes with my GN, but, I honestly didn't think I'd beat a V6 Eclipse with the 240.

Well... I don't know what good this is to you but I beat a v6 eclipse in my SE-R... I think I just had exaust then... I think those cars must be just dogs... Although car and driver says 15.3... Now that I reflect I think it was an auto... which would explain things...

cory does not have the mentality of "cheese master rice boy" you play him out to be, such as making up stuff to look cool. Judging from his previous post content, style of writing, previous cars (GN drooool, how many know-nothing ricers owned a GN? or even that know what it is?). I would say its not even a stretch to believe him.

You guys keep saying its impossible for a fairly stock S14 to beat a stock eclipse GT, but look at those numbers...they are pretty close. I mean if you where to see a race between them just based on those numbers, it would barely be a car length at most me thinks. Then put that race on the street where there are even more factors (there isnt any tree or chance to prepare for example). I dont understand how you can still sit there and say that there is NO WAY EVER a stock or near stock S14 can beat a GT. Sure the chances that the GT would win are higher, but then again, if it wasnt an interesting match up (as it obviously has sparked much interest), I doubt cory would have bothered posting his kill. Like who cares if you raced a Rav4 and won...nobody.

I bet the next thing you say will be something to the effect that this evidence is not legitimate enough, and to that I say....you will probably never be satisfied then and go through life believing that stock S14s will never beat stock GTs....*shudders* what a horrible life.... :pface

Concidering S14a's are the heaviest of all 240's and dont have any more power than they did 7 or 8 years earlier with much lighter models, im going to have to call BS unless by stock the guy means stock motor with slicks and a LSD. Just my opinion. This thread is going no-where.

You may be right, upon closer inspection of the picture, its seems to be true. I think the time is correct, but I bet he is probably leaving out mods....well, nevermind then. I know its possible for S13s to hit low-mid 15sec, hence why S14s arent cool =) hehehe jk S14 owners, they still rock!

Ok not that anyone will care etc... My dad has owned a 01 an 02 and now a 03 Eclipse GT V6, two were manuals the other was auto. Now the auto definately be beaten by a mildly good 240sx driver. The stick on the other hand well lets say its a toss up a very good driver could take it no doubt in my mind. But very very close..... its a drivers race...

As Aleph1 said, why in the world would I post about beating a V6 Eclipse on here if it weren't true?? I almost feel like a lesser person because I am even making the slightest deal about beating a slow *** Eclipse after owning a REAL car ('87 Buick GN) Geez, I beat Z06 Vettes with that car.....now I can barely beat a stupid Eclipse. I'm not trying to brag about my car, hell, it's slow. Big deal, a 2.4 4 banger with intake and exhaust, wow how impressive. NeedCAforS13, you're just pissed b/c your car is slower than mine. I don't have to prove a damn thing to you. Yeah, I owned an '87 Buick GN, it was my first car, drove it to school when I was 15. I think after owning that car for 11 years and buying a '99 Mustang GT as my daily driver for 4 years after building the GN, I should know something. Not only that, I used to go racing with my older brother before I could drive. I know all about racing kiddo, the streets are alot tougher than the strip son. You can only race for 1/4 mile at best on the strip, on the street, you can race as far as you want. I don't give a **** about some time slip b/c I've seen many people get their asses handed to them after bragging about what they ran. I've seen cars that ran faster at the strip get pounded by a slower car on the street. I'm not some damn "ricer", I know my ****.

here's a small sample of proof for ya, my GN. The onlt reason I got rid of the car was that I owned it for 11 years and it's just time to build something else. I wanted something lighter, sportier, and RWD. Trust me, my 240 will be putting down some high RWHP in the spring.

I'm sure this guy beat the V6 Eclipse... and did so genuinely. I raced a '98 3000GT N/A (218 HP) in my bro's '89 240 with intake, exhaust, SAFCII, and other small mods, and I beat the 3000 (this was the factory SOHC with 90,000 miles, mind you!). It was close, but we beat him definitely. The guy who raced the 3000 was my best friend, and he shifts wonderfully and knows how to hold traction, too. If this guy has the DOHC with mods, that V6 Eclipse would have been owned...

My best friend has a 2000 Grand Prix GTP (supercharged) It has 2 1/2" exhaust, 3.4" pulley (11PSI) and a CAI. It runs 9.40's in the 1/8 with some slight spinning. We raced last night just for the hell of it b/c we both wanted to see how the 240 faired against his GTP. Well, he didn;t beat me by much at all. We are going to race again when my header comes this week. Should be a REAL close call. I can't believe my car is so close to his now (and he can't either) The KA just doesn't get the respect it should!!

There used to be a magazine article from Car and Driver I think on http://www.240sx.org, but they took it away.Anyway, the heavier 95 240sx se did a 7.5 0-60 in that test and a 15.9 sec quarter mile in this article...I'm fairly positive anyhow.

Anyway, GT eclipses are not THAT fast. If you beat him cory, good for you. I absolutely HATE eclipses. Easily one of the ugliest cars out there, and I have a natural distaste for them because three girls that I'm not fond of in the least own them....How can you respect any car whose engineers weren't able to develop a chasis/body that was capable of seating an engine in its engine bay without some unsightly bulge on the hood?!? Talk about an engineering after-thought and gross miscommunication between the engine developers/chasis and body developers.

I agree, MarkEmark, Eclipses suck. My ex girlfriend has one, it is always broken and it couldn't fight its way out of a sock. The 240 is far superior in design.....especially looks Yeah, my friend's GTP is pretty darn fast. That thing is a torque monster, but, it is heavy. We raced a kid that has an S13 with an SR20DET on the highway with the GTP. He didn't beat us too bad, probably about the same as a new Mustang GT with a couple bolt-ons would. He refused to race us from a light though, he knew the GTP would own him from a light.
