Wasted a new Eclipse V6

Both the pre 96' and After 96'. I think that was the when they got a HP boost. They had the new larger hood scoops and different tails/headlights. The newer ones tend to run low 15's, which is right about where I run. The older ones were slower than that.....bleh!

Does it really matter? No, I am racing a near stock 240! Turbo gets "bolted" on by December anyways, then I get to aim for the "big brothers" of mustangs.

didnt early 3rd gen gt eclipses come with the 4cyl? like 2000-2001? i know the rs is a 4cyl not sure bout the gt.

The problem I see when shifting below 6k is that it bogs a little when I shift to the next gear, it just doesnt lunge forward like it does if I shift a little over 6k. It may be falling off some before I shift, but, it comes back alot harder when I shift to the next gear. Anyone had any experience with removing the butterflies in the intake on a basically stock KA?? Just curious as to where it helps the car, and if it hurts the low end any.

Oh, you've never heard that term eh?? Just means that I was taking my time shifting, not shifting the car fast at all. I thought everyone knew that term. I don't bang my transmission around unless it's a serious race

I have a B&M shifter, so, shifting fast is no prob.

ummmm, noone has ever heard of "granny shifting"?? Just think about how some granny would shift your car. No reason to power shift unless I know it's gonna be a real serious race. Although, I havn't attempted to powershift the 240 yet. My "99 GT was pretty easy to powershift, even with the stock shifter. I'm sure the 240 is even easier. Hell, I could powershift 5th in the Stang

the GT eclipse is alot faster then our 240.... i had a S13 with exhaust and was port and polished with intake... and my boy Mike wooped my a55 all over the road in his GT. he would toy with me and let me catch up then just drop gears and leave me behind. the eclipse GT is a fast car, the 240 isnt. the kid didnt race you bro, and if he did, it wasnt a GT. i seen a kid around here that put the V6gt badges on his RS.... now if it was the RS you won, i beat the RS silly with my old S13. but the GT is way to fast for us.

stock for stock the GT is faster than a 240sx, does that mean its a better car? Probably not in terms of performance capability but in the strait aways stock for stock i would put my money on the GT.

it takes a very talented driver and a pristen stock 240sx to get into the mid 15 second range.

personally i got a 17 second 1/4 on mine, im not afraid to admit it. 80% or more of most people who actually go to a track and get time slips will only see a 16 second 1/4

I beat a 3rd gen RS (I think, it didnt sound much like a V6) a couple nights ago...WITH some ricey 12yr old girl driving (you know, when they sit super low and they look like little kids). What an accomplishment, if anyone cares at all =)

240SX arent slow, they are that mid area between slow and decent, what I like to call...quick. Saying the 240SX is slow sounds like a bitter remark of someone whos been burned =) You just gotta know your limits in 155hp 2800lbs car, ie. what you can possibly beat and what you have no chance against.

Kill List: older V6 camry, many V6 stangs, many eclipse RS and GS (1st and 2nd gen), couple of civic hatches, a Ford Bonco (what can I say? the guy was revving at me), I know Im forgetting some...

BTW- Did some quick research, 0-60 6.9sec, 1/4 mile is around mid 15s. Here is a slip for a 2003 GTS V6: http://www.dragtimes.com/detail.php?ID=2313 (highish 60foot time, but still....probably the avg driver, take that into consideration.) So its possible to beat a 3rd gen V6 with a fairly stock 240SX.

V6 Eclipse GT's aren't that fast. My friend has one and the best time he's pulled is a 15.5, and ussually it's 15.9. So, its very possible to beat one. And he's an acomplished racer. NIGHT, are you the same guy that has the website centered around RB powered 240's? You sure seem hell bent on bashing this guy, and for something that is very possible.

Ok for all you guys that say you have beaten a V6 mustang is not that big of a deal unless it was a 99+ in witch case they are just as fast as the Eclipes GT. MM&FF Mag has driven a completly stock 99+ v6 mustang at 14.9, and others have seen mid 14s with slicks. I know for a fact i could take any older stock or slightly modified 94-98 v6 mustang, and my friend knows that. But if i ever try to race a 99+ i get my *** handed to me even with all my mods. Just make sure you know what mustang your racing, if your saying you beat a 99+ its about the same as saying you beat a S2k, ITR, Eclipes GT, or even 96-98 GT mustang just not going to happen stock. and if it was an older 94-98 its not really worth mentioning.

If someone comes on here saying to beat someone they might have, but for us to really know for sure we would have had to been there, and we were not so we really cant say one way or another.

I know my 240 will run about 17.5 here in SLC at 4500 ft, and i dont expect to be much faster then that, not tell i put on a turbo.

My ex girl has a 2001 V6 mustang and it's nowhere near fast. The 99 up V6 mustangs have 190hp, that is not enough power to put a 3600 lb. car in the 14 sec. range. Hell, I've outrun my ex's stang numerous times with my S-10, well, up until about 90. But in the S-10's defense, it's the 4 cyl.
