I was doing some work in the front and noticed that there was play in the outer turns out that the blue part outer that the hemi threds into was toast as in no threads left anyone that has these prolly noticed how the blue piece seems like pot metal, anyways when they say not for street use i guess they are right. I imagine kazamas and the other similar ones are prolly made in the same sweatshop but go to the red paint booth, anyways get Tein tie rods

TERROR!!

I hate to cross forums but this in pretty important. Earlier this month a guy from Z ilvia posted the same issue with the tie rod ends. The threads literally ripped out from the nut (the picture is from photobucket so hopefully this it is ok to show it here). You are going to have to find the thread yourselves, since we are not sposed to link to other forums, suffice to say it under a thread about Megan Ruca's

Seeing this I immediately ordered new tie rods from SPL. After removing the Megan rod ends I looked at the nut and it appears to be made from Aluminum which could be acceptible as long as the proper alloy and heat treating is performed...which I highly doubt. I may try to have the nut scanned with an alloy sorter to determine the grade of alloy. The threads appeared to be rolled over at thier tips further reducing the surface area where the tie rods can grab. Night and day difference when compared with the SPL nut.

I am actually giving Wicked Tuning tie rods a try.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1

I thought the quality looked a bit better on those than the megan ones. Although, If I get them and they look like total crap I will go with SPL's.

and SPC Toe Rods:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...&rd=1

Well great. I just paid for new ones to go on my 240. How long/how many miles did you have them on before they did this? I saw in another post where we were talking about Megan stuff that you had them at least 4 months ago. Have you had them longer though?

If they are aluminum are we sure some cross threading has happened in these instances?

LOL

SPL stuff does not stand the test of time. At lest in my experience.

All I'm saying is, if i ever have to buy more links, I'll probably go with battleversion.

the wicked tie rods *look* good. the SPC Toe Rods are VERY beefy.

but always remember, loctite is your friend. I may use some steel pipe stock and replace the aluminum piece that failed on the megan tie rod. IMO that should be a steel piece anyway.

Was digging through my email and found that someone sent megan a hate letter under my name.

Todd, Thank you for your deep and valued concern, so much that you took the time to appearantly attempt to throw some form of retaliation in our faces. In the area of Aviation Maintenance, you SHOULD of taken a course in Aircraft Structures into which you learned destructive and non-destructive testing of materials and with this the ability to identify metals without having their coatings removed. With this knowledge it should of been easy for you to determine that the Tie-Rods are actually a Steel-Alloy with a phosphorus-based powder coating. As for the joints, we instructed all of our distributors to stop selling the Tie-Rod ends due to this discrepancy.. so it's not like we're ignorant to the issues that have come up with our products or otherwise don't care. Once we find an issue.. we test that issue, and if it's something of concern then we stop selling the product. Our first and foremost concern is safety and then performance.. we're not a Money-Machine that does not have any compassion for our customers. So I hope that your post.. and your "Annoymous" email helps you sleep better at night. And if you'd actually like us to assist you with an issue with our product in the futures, I strongly recommend that you approach us differently, like an adult, and then we can go from there. -Steve J. It looks like someone emailed Megan the link and they just assumed that it was from you. Anyway, it's nice to see that Megan pulled it from the stores and try to improve.

One of my battle version Ruca's bent on me about 6 months ago, now I am back to rocking nasty negative camber in the rear.

And I want to know what was sent to Megan, I am a Non Destructive Technician and have been for over 6 years in the Aviation field.

WTF does that have to do with their crappy tie rod ends? The only way to determine the alloy type would be an eddy current conductivity test which would only benefit you if you had possession of an eddy current flaw detector whcih typically run ($5000+) and an IACS chart with corresponding readouts numbers correlating to metal types.

I bent the RUCA drifting I guess, I bent the lip on one of my 5Zigens which I had fixed for $140 about a month ago. I hit a curb whilst at an open parking lot drift event last year and then next time I rotated tires I noticed the thing was bent. No Todd I don't have it, I threw that ***** in the trash. I kept the rod end bearings though so if anyone needs any I will sell them to you for uber cheap, like 10 bux shipped per rod end with nuts.
