I hit a curb whilst at an open parking lot drift event last year and then next time I rotated tires I noticed the thing was bent. No Todd I don't have it, I threw that ***** in the trash. I kept the rod end bearings though so if anyone needs any I will sell them to you for uber cheap, like 10 bux shipped per rod end with nuts.
hit a curb and broke it, haha thats not the broke we were all thinking of

Yeah but it was the front of my car that hit the curb, not the rear.

holy crap.

i just got my SPL tie rods. That is some beefy ****. Anyone who does not go SPL is retarded. These things will not break. everything is at least twice as thick as the megan ones. (except for the inner rod, which is still 14mm but from a z32, spl says it is the same size but it is stronger)

although, the wicked racing ones look better than the megans they are still no comparison to the SPL rods. I have been impressed with everything I have bought from SPL.

I will take some pictures to compare. If you have not seen the SPL tie rods in person or next to another brand, you can not fathom how bigger and better they are.

well I'm here to kinda clear megans name. I just ordered a bunch of megan arms. I know, I can hear the boos. but anywaythe blue piece with the threads is not what went bad according to megan racing.(I called them) They told me somewhere on the internet some guy said to put lots of lithium grease on crappy arms. (i've personally read the thread but don't remember where). This actually attracts dirt and other stuff, which causes binding. They claimed the posters end was binded and something had to give(the threads). they also told me that all of their ends are self lubricating, so no grease. As soon as I described my tie rod ends to them and told them where I got mine from (phase2) they told me to give them my shipping address and that they will send the new design out free of charge as soon as they get my email.

That makes no sense. SO WHAT if they say to drench lithium grease on the tie rod ends, the only piece that moves is the rod end bearing. The threads are there to hold the damn thing on the tie rod itself, so I fail to see what binding had to do with the whole situation, maybe I am misunderstanding?

the lithium grease attracted dirt and grime, in other words the grease made the end bind. if the whole thing is frozen then somthing is gonna break. in this case it was the threads.

they say not to put any grease at all on them.

I understand the point of having adjustable tie rod ends but how many of you actually need them?

Just get OEM ones.

I would think pillow ball joint tie rod ends will last longer than stock. Am I wrong?

Nah it actually doesn't, the OEM outers are made of ball joints filled with grease which will last longer, but the pillow ball joints better for performance.

Jesus, I was just contemplating on buying Megan tie-rods because they where cheap and supposedly better than OE. I ended up with 2x $25 OE pieces from Advance due to time constraint. I'm gld I didn't get Megan. Infact, I don't think I'll buy anything Megan at all now. If the base metal is inferior what else can make it better?

This thread should be made into a sticky.
