Yep, I said it, i want a new car, something way faster than a 240sx. Im gonna leave the 240 in the family just in case a swap ever happens. But yeah i need a new car. The s13 is to small for me. Uncomfotable on long rides and is just not fast enough! I was in a hurry yesterday and a muistang thougth i was messing with him. So he turned on his jets and totally smoked me. I then realized that i am in a car that is way to slow! I need a fast car that is considerably bigger than a 240sx. What you guys think? I have a s10 that i am selling for 10,500 bucks but figure to use only 5,000 bucks for a car and the rest to pay my bills. What should i get? My father is a mechanic so im not worried about used cars.

THE RX7 AND SUPRA ARE MORE COMFORTABLE THAN THE 300ZX. THE SUPRA HAS LARGER LEG SPACE THAN ALL THREE THOUGH AND A CONSIDERABLY HIGHER PRICE TAG.

Remember Im only gonna use the 5,000 bucks. I would use the money to make my 240 faster but really its not that comfortable of a ride. I drive 80 miles a day. I think 5,000 will not cover any of those cars. what you guys think?

ECLIPSE ARE HELL TO WORK ON, THE ACCORD IS AND OVERPRICED UNDERPOWERED HONDA, AND THE SOLARA HAS PONTENTIAL IF YOU DO A SWAP. THEY ARE ALL GREAT CARS IT JUST DEPENDS ON WHAT YOU WANT OUT OF IT.

THEY ARE DECENTLY SIZED AND COMFORTABLE. MY COMFORT IS FEELING TIGHT IN MY DRIVING SPACE. THE ECLIPSE IS ALITTLE LARGER.

if you want to get a fast car, get one that runs 13's stock, then build from there

Look at your budget man. You arent getting too much of anythign on a 5000 budget WITH the horses ANd leg room you want. Maybe a 1st gen Eclipse or older Supra. Definately wont be getting an Accord with 200 horses with 5K

Hey man, honestly you wont find what you want for under 5000 unless you do get a mustang or something.

Solara? Accord?? come one, you think thats going to be fast?

The eclipse is a horrible car, i wouldnt look into those, and for 5k you will find a pretty crappy one.

Why dont you keep your 240, take that 5000 and buy some better, nicer, more comfortable seats. Then get a nitrous kit, and you will be faster. There, now you ahve 4000 dollars left over, and you are more comfy, and faster.

With 5k into an s13, you could make a very nice car, just have to know how to do it.

You know what you shoudl look into? A 91-95 mr2 , yeah i know they are a little smaller, but they have MADD leg room, know why?" The engines in the back. Im 6'0 + and have tons of room iin my mr2 turbo. Plus it is down right comfortable, the seats are awsome and i love it.

Or get an old supra, i duno. Why dont you buy my mr2, its turbo, comfy, great cond, and fast. Im in Florida, it runs 13's heres a pic:

Yeah i love MR2's my brother is actually selling his MK1. I would love the MK11. Problem is finding one. I know with 5,000 i could totally hook my 240 up. I just really need more room. There is no room for legs or hips in my car. My leg is always hitting the damn emergency break. Just little things that bother me i dont know. I just have to be patient. Do you really think that Eclipses are that bad? seems to me people with problems are the ones that love to drive fast but dont know how to maintain.

ECLIPSES ARE HELL TO WORK ON.... THIS A PERSONAL OPINION BUT THEY ARE REALLY CRAMMED TOGETHER WORSE THAN A HONDA. AND MR2 IS KINDA A PAIN ALSO BUT THEY ARE GREAT CARS WORTH EVERY PENNY. THEY HAVE TONS OF ROOM BUT IF YOU HATE THE STRAIGHT UP FEELING THEY CAN BE UNBEARABLE FOR EXTREMELY TALL PEOPLE.

You definatley dont want a first gen DSM, I had a laser, and they are just hell. First of all its the manufactures FIRST car, second its the first model of that car, and its AWD (why would you want fwd when you have the option of AWD?) and I dont trust a first gen car that is 10+ years old. Know what I mean? awd aint cheap to repair.

As for second gens, they are girls cars, plain and simple. They are in the same class as miatas, del sols, and focus's. Beyond that, they arent fun, and finding a second gen eclipse or talon thats AWD (again why get fwd when you can have awd?) is going to be rather hard, and you wont find one thats running for under 5k

If you have a reliable job, I suggest you put 5k down on a supra, mr2 turbo(or if style is my your thing then get the TT), or even an rx7.

I really would like to see you drop the 5k in the 240, but whatever its your choice.

I'm all for the Mr2 turbo or 95ish Camaro, the 350's are incredibly hard to kill engines, parts are cheap, and the car is quick. Who cares if they are all over the place, theres a reason.

I would highly suggest staying away from DSM's. A couple of my friend have them, and I'm not impressed at ALL. Also, the interior room is a tad more room than a 240, but not by much. I agree with the others and say to get an old muscle car. Easy to work on, easy to get parts, good room. Only downside is gas mileage, but what do you expect from a n/a car that can hit 12's with sticky rubber.

with $5000, you won't get a good GSX Eclipse (the only halfway decent model). I think the RX-7 Turbo II would be a good choice or the MR2 Turbo (though it'll be hard to find one of those in good condition for $5000 also). Not sure only spaciousness of those cars though. If you get the NA model of any of those cars you won't be going much faster than your 240 if at all, and you'll be very disappointed.
