Very interesting thing, all u do is download the app to your iphone/itouch, and leave the iphone in your car and the G-force will determine your 1/4mile, hp, top speed, etc.

i find it pretty damn cool when you can dyno your car with something you use everyday, and it costs around 12/13 bucks on the apple store, or if you find a free download

il have to get my hands on a iphone soon :D

If someone could write an app for itouch and iphone that will let me control my media player with the steering wheel controls, that would be great. Thanks.

But this is cool too. :p

this sounds great and my friend is going to try and put it on there ipod touch for me to borrow lol but my only question is how would it work with CVT? it tests hp but with a CVT? a real dyno can't even do that lol i'd go to like 100 mph and let off the gas and watch it say like 1,000 hp thinkin i did all that in 1st gear lol

It's not that bad for $13 dollars, and you can still use it to compare cars to each other.

wow im suprised non of you have actually done this yet. People in my city have done this for 2 weeks already, and i got this off my city forums

You can dyno a CVT too, since you dont plug your ipod ot anything, all you do is let ur ipod sit in your car like it normally would, and you just go to the app and click start, and Run your car as fast as possible LOL and thne it will give you ur stats

this app actually helped promote sales to hte iphone and itouch lol

From what I cant tell, iTunes says its only been out since the 28th although people have known about its eminent release. Also, I doubt it significantly improved sales because it isn't even a top app.

I just bought it and gave it a test.

I had a passenger, and a very short test strip to go on. I also dont know the % drivetrain loss.

I set the weight at 3200lb (really should be 3k, but I figured with the passengers), and then set drivetrain loss at 20%.. it pegged me at 155hp after 1/8th mile...

I only tried it twice cause I had to be elsewhere..

so far seems interesting.. if I can get more time with it ill report back.

I used the dynolicious last night... with 3205 as the weight, and a 15% drivetrain loss, it estimated 241 peak horsepower...

If you put in a % for drivetrain loss, it tells you the WHP... if you put in 0%, it estimates flywheel horsepower

so you tell it the weight and the drivetrain loss, and througb gps it tells you your power,

that is awesome, i should of bought an iphone

doesn't the 3.5se weigh 3,205 WITHOUT a driver? i remember seeing a video online of a cobra mustang and a corvette racing and the guy holding the camera kept getting into both cars. funny thing is, the mustang got its *** kicked with the camera guy in the passenger seat and the corvette got its *** kicked when the camera guy was in the passenger seat. the camera guy made a HUGE difference, i was actually surprised how much of a difference it made.

so how is the phone capable of determing your acceleration, does it have a G meter? that doesnt seem like a feature a cell phone would have?

so anyone out there, does any one know how it knows your acceleration?

iPhone's have accelerators that allow them to detect motion in several directions.

I assume they are using some formula that combines captured G forces, with weights, and the amount of time those forces are experienced, to come to some realization of how much power was required to do that.... but im talking out my rear... I have no idea how its really doing it, but it's genius.

yeah, you go through a calibration at the beginning when you first setup the program

The iPhone and iTouch both have highly sensitive accelerometers built in them (kinda like the Nunchuck for the Nintendo WII). I never thought they were this sensitive though!

Is 15% a safe, average assumption for drivetrain loss or is that an actual recorded figure?

its a safe, round figure, used as the general drivetrain loss in most equations
