Hello people, I've recently got a 1991 240sx and I loved it for the three days I was able to drive it. It is and auto and it is not moving :frown: . I put it in d and the rpm barely changed and giving it gas doesn't do much. But reverse kinda works. I assume this is the end of the trans as the car has 188404 so I picked up a 5spd almost complete swap kit from Craigslist. Anyways this has been it so far for my S13 and I'll be back to update. Hmm how to upload pics from phone

Welcome to NICO!
Here's how you post pictures:

It sounds like either you were low on fluid, developed a big internal leak, or you blew one of your clutches in the transmission :(

Thank you!
I checked fluid both cold and warmed up. It was full, but smelled burnt for sure. I believe the clutches are toast because in D, if I wait and rev it would creep forward just a bit.

Congrats on the new purchase.
It actually looks to be in very good shape.

Looks like you found yourself a nice, clean 240 there. Very rare nowadays.

Have fun with it! There's some very good write-ups on Nico for step-by-step on how to do the 5 speed swap, too.

Well my phone hides the flaws very well. Its definitely got some flaws. PO bumped the car and the front bumper is misaligned, the rear of the car is more of orange that red, theres a dent in the qp, little clearcoat left on the paint, holes in the trunk. Mechanically , theres the timing chain rattle, f ed up trans ( funny thing I have heard putting brake fluid in dying auto trans can save it for a bit and its true! I can move my car around the streets now), and thats it really other than the high mileage. I am planning to save this s13 so if you have any tips about fixing it up please let me know. I am still doing a lot of reading as I slowly pile some parts.

Congrats on your 'normal' 240SX. They're all flawed, most just don't make a habit of pointing the flaws out. Enjoy your new toy!
