Besides, like some others have said...it's possible that the dealership will try to screw you out of warranty work for even the most simple of mods.

Can a VR-4 in good condition be found for $8K? That's not bad at all.

He wants 8500 for it, I'm gonna talk him down to 8, should I decide to buy it. I found a nice red (RUNNING) 240 hatch today thats got me going insane.

And yes, its in awesome shape.

vr4's here can go for as little as 4k for very early 100k + models in decent shape.still a lot of life left in a very fast car for 4k.

VR-4 all the way. I love the lokes of'em over the SRT. It has more power potenetial. And it is All Wheel Drive.

The SRT will handle better, but I love AWD. I steal my mothers Legacy every chance I get. And a Turbo AWD would just kick major BUTT!!!!!!!!!!!11

uh, the SRT probably handles not as well. dont forget, the VR4 has AWS too. my friend colby said this buddy of his with a mean VR4 from 3si had him in the car and they were going down the highwayy around 60-70 and he made a lane change and it was almost a straight cross over, as in he didnt have to jerk the wheel much or take a long time to get over.

Its got a transverse V6 right? I thought the VR4 had a heavy front torque bias (like 70/30 or something). Is it always operateing in AWD or only when the front wheels are slipping?base and SL models are FWD .

Now I'm not to much on the 3000GT VR4's cause they are boats. Not to say they can't be fast but if its going to be your everyday driver you'll have to figure in expenses like maintenance, insurace differance, and gas mileage. Not trying to discourage you just trying to see if you've looked at this stuff yet. Oh and on the note of the Galant VR4's I saw one back home that ran like a 7.1 in the 8th. To me thats pretty impressive.

My friend has a srt and I personally drove it when it was stock and that thing moves... he has a simple manual boost controller and is boosting 14psi with no problems. One bad thing is that the turbo is mated to the exhaust mani ( a mitsu design IIRC) so to upgrade you'll need a new man, but they already have like 3 or 4 staged kits out for it that are not too pricey. Plus 2.4 LITERS turbo charged... thats friggin crazy, and the whole thing about it being a neon... bleh, it looks much nicer than a neon. Not that it doesnt look similar just better in my opinion. I wouldnt sleep on the srt-4, you should check out some of there forums and then draw your own conclusion. Oh and I always loved the 3000gt but after test driving one it just seemed a bit slugish and heavy, though it wasnt a vr-4 so cant really comment on that. Well good luck in you decision and post some pics of the car you choose.

Imagine what you drove plus AWD, twin turbo, and double the horsepower. That thing may way more than a small country, but it will MOVE! :D

Hi, my name is Rex, and I'm an idiot, the whole time I thought you were talking about a Galant VR-4 :beatfreak. Anywhoo, I'd take a VR-4 and cash to spend over a Neon.

I'd take the Galant over either of the other two probably, unless the Mopar is given to me with a warranty.

the Galants are so cool and rare...

VR-4>SRT-4

Why?

#1) I agree with all of the testical-having males here that the Neon is a Neon and a Neon is a chick car. It's like looking at a Turbo Beetle. You could beat me all day in that car and I'd still point and laugh at you. :pface

#2) How bad is the torque-steer on the Neon?

#3) A VR-4 with $10,000 in mods will hand a stock SRT-4 it's arse.

#4) A VR-4 with $0 in mods and $20 dollars in an oil change will hand a stock SRT-4 it's arse.

I would take an srt-4.

The funniest thing in the whole wide world is to see a woman in a stock compact car beat a macho man in a red sports car off the line.

As a bystander, I would laugh my head off if I saw any sport car lose to a neon. That's embarrasing. And from what I am reading, the srt-4 is nothing to snicker at.

Bah. I managed to keep up with one because of the ****ty driver mod.

Granted any car performs poorly when driven poorly.

Yea but you're missing the point. When you spend 21K on an SRT-4 and 8K+10K in goodies, which one would you pick?

Oh, I thought you meant Galant VR-4 too. They're neat, I've driven one and almost bought one.

Stop referring to cars by their trim levels! :)
