Thanks again for the wisdom! i will definately update you guys as i build. I'm so stoked, can't wait to start. I have just been buying the parts till i got enough to start. What would you recommend i do to the block once the heads are off? I assume headwork is in order? in the dark as far as blockwork and head work is concerned. Thanks again. This thread rocks!

I emailed you at ask@nissandoctor, but I noticed you said you haven't checked it much. Looking for a price on doing the wiring conversion stuff if I provide the harness and ecm (and hopfully the other modules that are needed). Also and price on motor mounts and the shifter adapter mount. My email is [email protected].

Thanks in advance!Bryan

I went and paid $350 for the coupe with rod-knock today. I had a closer look at the car and it was ok.

Will a 95-2001 Maxima ECU work with HUD (auto) or OEM M/T ECU from S13 240SX? What modifications will I need?

Are you doing anything to increase the rev limit of your VQ along with higher compression? Are JWT springs for 350Z any better than Cosworth springs?

I found this little tool on the web. I don't know how it can reflect real world VQ30DE engine but by the numbers the compression increase I'm planning doesn't make much of a difference.http://www.bgsoflex.com/crchange.html

I know that FWD VQ needs to get a RWD VQ oil pan to work with the RWD trans for starter to work.

Will $80 ebay 350Z oil pan do the work?

those knock off greedy oil pans have been known to leak, some times in weired places too.

so unless you want to take the time and money to make sure its perfectly level its a waste of cash

Are there like two levels of oil pan on VQ35DE engine? One where starter mounts to and one which is on the bottom of that.

Is it something I can buy from Nissan dealers? Because RWD VQ prices are so inflated getting a part like that is pretty hard.

This is a video of a swap similar to what I'm planning for. I thought I was the only cheap bastard around. :Phttp://videos.streetfire.net/v...7.htmThen again, that car has a lot of spacial parts and work, enough to race in GT class.

What is the 'Dual Runner' on the 2000-2001 Maxima VQ30DE intake opposed to 95-99 VQ30DE intake? Does it give more power by being larger? I'm thinking about modifying a Maxima intake instead of Pathfinder intake to save money.

its this kinda flap system so the running length is 2x as long at low rpms and normal length at high

in a nut shell

Will a long but larger (not too large) intake be a good compromise?I noticed that 1995-1999 VQ30DE intake pipes are very small. Will a larger collector help too?

whats the best way to go as far as gauges to work with the VQ swap? don't the skyline gauges work? how hard would it be to install some skyline gauges or some 350z gauges in my s13 with a vq?

I don't think 350Z gauges would fit without mods. I'd go with PathFinder, Quest, Maxima, Altima gauges for better fitment.

A32 maxima's guagues look like they could fit in the s13 gauge cluster

or R32 gauge cluster too.

So there are 4 options to fit a FWD VQ into the 240.

1. Use RWD VQ upper oil pan - How much does it cost and where would one get it without buying the whole engine?

2. Fab a FWD oil pan to fit in RWD 350Z Trans. - Does anyone have pics for the bolt pattern difference? Any pics for starter mounting?

3. Use RWD engine.

4. fab a Maxima bell housing onto RWD 350Z transHow possible is that?

I called Mike Shad Nissan (because Coggin is a rip-off) and got a quote for upper oil pan for $115. I'll have to order it but it'll take only a few days.

I think my VQ30DE swap is cheaper than what I expected.

Is your vert door pillers removed yet? There's at least three S13 in Ace-Pick-a-Part.

I would say so, and as long as all cylinders were within 5 psi of each other.

So i was fortunate enough to come across a 2003 altima REAR END damage Now this is a car my cousin bought and i told him if anything ever happened that he should give me the engine now at the time i was joking but after two months the anything happened now it is totaled thanks to some idiot who can't drive But now that i have this car in my grasp i was wondering what parts i could use and what else i would need to drop that vq in my s13

the engine, the wiring harness, underdash harness, nats, ingnition lock, key,

you will need rwd water pipes off of an 03-05 rwd vq

you will need intake and exhaust off of an 03-05 rwd vq

you will need transmission off of a RWD VQ and custom drive shaft

since you have an s13 correct? you can probabbly re-use the gauge cluster or that of an R32 Skyline.

I'm expecting my VQ30DE engine next week. What parts should I replace on the engine, as far as seals and gaskets and stuff? It has about 96K on it from a wrecked car.

Can I get a discount if I order those parts from your shop?

hey while you have that vq all apart do you mind testing for me to see if you can turn your intake manifold 180 digress and still be able to be bolted down? I'm curious because it looks like you could flip it and be able to use it in RWD use. Since the other way would be pointing into the fire wall
