Could you please weight your car after new wheels and putting on full interior? Without CF hood and stuff.

That would give us an idea of the weight ratio and total weight changed from stock.

I might be able to one up that. A local shop has offered to corner weigh the car for me. Not only will I know total weight, but weight distribution as well. I'll let you know when I get by there.

You've come far but it looks like you still have ways to go. I am loving this swap though, just make sure you beat the Subaru next time;) It's a very good looking swap and definitely unique.

No new updates at the moment. I have had to double up my workload to cover the cost of this build and get extra money for the holidays. I should be installing the P/S pump any day now. Wheels will more than likely be Weds sport TC005's. But that wont happen till January of Feb.

The car runs like a dream. I have noticed that the dragstrip will never do this car justice, so I have asked a few SCCA drivers to take my car to a track day. I would love to do VIR or Kershaw myself, but I want an opinion from a real driver with a lot of experience. The two drivers I've asked, who are also friends of mine, both have victories under their belts and have been racing for over 15 years. I feel they can give me the best input of all. The fact that this car could drive to the track, perform half decent and drive home will be the most rewarding accomplishment of all. Even a friend of mine with a Z06 has trouble sticking with me on the twistys out in the sticks. I'd say its a pretty nice car. Hopefully one day we can get the twin turbo version running with a bit more suspension work.

I was also thinking about replacing the entire center console. Installing a touch screen flush with the dash that controls A/C and audio functions. The fabrication for the display would be harder than the actual system. It's just an idea, but if all goes well, it should be a solid piece of clear fiberglass, color matched to the interior, traveling from the windshield, down the console, past the shifter and up under the armrest. Completely flush with the dash to keep the stock appearance (as much as possible), with the touch screen being flush in that panel. I will need to install a small computer, actuators on the mode mix doors and verious temp sensors. Im guessing this will all add about 15 lbs to the car, nothing to worry about. The touch screen will more than likely come from a laptop or navigation system, the control unit would have to be a regular run of the mill computer. I have to talk to a few friends of mine to see if we can get this done, but it shouldnt be too hard.....but Im guessing it will cost a good bit. Just an idea.....it's still fun to dream!

More updates soon!

Sounds cool. I'm enjoying the slow down right now. I need some time to catch up! Hopefully I'll have another video of the white car up soon. It's just gonna be a good ol spin and slide video. I will say this, even though the intake timing advance is innoperative right now (again, wrong ECM), it still has tons of power.

I had a car fly up on me the other night. I couldn't even see his headlights he was so close. Im not trying to get any more tickets, so I stick to 5 over max, but this guy was too tempting. I noticed the familiar edges of what appeared to be Honda headlights. I also noticed the pep boys fog lights (cheap fog lights are more like ornaments then functional).

A turn on a backroad coming from my parents home is 90 degrees and not safe over 55 in any car (including a corvette). I eased into the turn normaly, 3rd gear engaged, and once out of the turn I let it rip. It wasnt the dwindling of his headlights, far behind me, that was impressive...no, it was the tires spinning and sliding sideways when I hit 4th. That, to me, is what this was all about. The last time I went sideways in 4th was in a Viper SRT-10 fresh off the delivery truck. This tells me two things.....one that I am making more than double the power of the old engine, and two that skinny tires make everyone else think you have some serious power.

I really need to get new wheels and tires!

I hear ya! I am still keeping an eye on E-Bay for a set of 06 350Z wheels. Maybe the right set will come when I have the extra cash. I think everyone agrees that the last of the 18's are the best!

VQ from a Maxima, power....yes, it has 0.3:1 less compression. Emissions, no...not exactly. It depends on what computer you are running. The Maxima VQ35 will accept the RWD oil pan and intake/exhaust manifolds. The high compression motor I built is from an Altima, which is the exact same as a maxima.

As far as stock 350Z power, the use of a Z ecm will produce the same timing curves and fuel curves needed to get that power. If you use an Altima/Maxima or Quest engine, you will need to swap out pistons. The difference is minor, as the stock FWD pistons are 10:1 and the RWD pistons are 10.3:1, so the difference will be less than 20HP. The real difference is in the tuning of the ECM.

By the way, to all those in favor of the aftermarket stand alone engine management systems, let me say this. When I first fired up my high compression engine, it was with a stock 2006 Z ecm and TWO (2) YEAR OLD 87 OCTANE FUEL!!!!!. Fuel begins to lose its octane rating after 6 months, meaning partial burn (if any). The stock ECM operated this engine like it had fresh fuel in it. Aftermarket systems do not have that much capability. They are great, but not that great.

Later gang!

You will need a harness and ecm from a Z. The altima/maxima/quest will not plug into the z ecm, and also, those engines have EGR valves, which are a fail safe item (that you dont want to have to deal with).

Your best bet is to just get everything from a Z or G35/FX35.

well if your going to use a Z ecu then the harness are only the same from 05 and on, from what I have read on maxima.org anyways. if your going to use an early z ecu or early maxima ecu you will need to use a harness from those years.

but its just best to get everything from the same car anyways

I have an 03 ecu and harness complete from a maxima if you want, including nats

300 shipped let me know if your interested.

haha yeah there are some major low ballers out there. thanks for your help on passing on my sale

florida240- I think ebay would be your best bet for an ECU. I've seen a few on there for pretty good deals. let me know on the harness.

I agree. 04 model wiring and newer will work with 04 ECMs and newer (M/T). 10/03 the wiring changed to accept air fuel ratio sensors in the exhaust, as opposed to the 03 early 04 harnesses that still used Oxygen sensors.

Rember when buying harnesses for your engine. 05 35th anniversary engines have exhaust valve timing, as does all 06 and 07 Manual transmission engined Z's. If your using a converted FWD engine, you will not be able to use exhaust valve timing.

I am running a 2006 ECM and wiring on my HC motor. It will not allow the intake timing to advance because it cant monitor the exhaust valve timing. I will have to get an 04 or 05 ECM to get my intake valve timing to work.....but Im making enough power now, Im just putting that off till after the holidays (gotta buy alotta gifts).

Accordfreak---sorry still no pics on the Coolant pipes. I have been trying to remember to do that, I just get too busy. I will tattoo it to my hand if I have to, so I will remember.
