What did you guys think of this grill I just saw on Stillen It would be perfect for me if the mesh was black... Also does anyone know what "Brushed Style" means?

with grilles, its mesh or billet. I dont think either looks great, but I def. think the mesh looks helluva lot better than what we have. The honycomb design is okay at best. Mesh with correct spacing of the holes and designing can look awesome. Until I got the AC I HATED mesh, but since have learned it can be viable and easy to work with option.

All that said, I mentioned this to my local body shop at one time. He seemed to think it would be possible, but time consuming. I'm going to drop by tomorrow and see if he is really willing to take on the project and possibly produce some for a few of you guys. I hope I can talk him into it, but nobody hold me to this, as the only thing I've gotten so far was a conversation in passing with him when he painted the panel above the license plate for me

Why does nobody ever mention the t-rex grill. I really like this grill, but am considering powder coating the lower grill black.

This is a photoshop pic of what my car should look like when its all said and done.

this is definetly my best choice, and i think it would look great with a lip...the artisan lip

i like grills that "SINK" into the bumper..not ones that are level with the rest of the bumper, its just plain ugly...

Hey Guys,

We have addressed this in a few threads but I guess we have not yet said anything in this exact one. As of right now we are not going to be making a replacement grill for the Altima Coupe. Your designs are great and your ideas would look fantastic. Unfortunately, the actual execution of the ideas into a full production piece are practically impossible. The only way that we would make an aftermarket grill is if it met our standards. Unfortunately we can not see a way to produce these grills in a way that would offer a perfect fit and finish as well as a good price point.

If you would like, I will be more than happy to take pictures of the problem areas to show you our concerns. We have a front fascia off of a car just sitting in the back of the shop. I can take some pictures and point out the trouble areas.

Our main reason for not producing a grill matching your designs is because we would be concerned of the quality. If it wasn't perfect, we wouldn't want it. And, we're concerned that perfection is unobtainable on these grills.

As you all know, we always listen to you guys and we always take your opinions into consideration. We know that you want a grill and we would love to be the ones to bring it to you. However we refuse to sacrifice the quality just to make a buck...

where there is a will there is a way. You say this "Unfortunately we can not see a way to produce these grills in a way that would offer a perfect fit and finish as well as a good price point"

how high would it cost if you did make a perfect fitting grille replacement?1000$?

It's more the cost of the tooling than the retail cost to you guys.

There you guys have it...finally an official word in the thread that is just blowing smoke now.

Kyle,Thanks for y'alls attempt to look at this for those of us who aren't ready or don't have the money for the full fascia. Can you email some of those pictures? I am still determined to make my own grill and I want to see where I am going to be held up at. BTW, are there any concept drawings that y'all are willing to share...so we can at least and then

Thanks for the honesty Kyle, I appreciate Stillens dedication to quality but this is quite disappointing.

On a more positive note . . .

I was looking through the currently available grills, and had an idea. The speed grill looks alot like the concept on the black coupe mentioned on this page (its just chrome instead of black). The only difference is with the speed grill it looks like the 'stache' must be removed, which leaves both sides looking a bit awkward.

What if you could paint the stache the color of the body, keep them attached, and install this grill? Wouldnt it look VERY similar to the concept? Maybe stillen would be able to produce this grill is multiple colors instead of just chrome? Or worst case we could use some kind of matte black paint to paint the grill?

I am new to the whole car moding scene so bear with me if this doesnt seem realistic =/

I hope forum member Altima_Coupe doesn't mind me using his picture but I'm an idiot when it comes to computers and don't know how to get my pictures up here. I noticed his picture shows exactly what I want to show so I can illustrate my point there...

Take a look at the bottom of the opening. If you look closely there is a little lip/overhang on the mounting/clip location for the factory grill. This will prevent any grill material from sitting flush with the rest of the bumper.

We can build a urethane piece that would go across the bottom of the opening. The problem is that either the grill, or bumper will need to be recessed in this area to accomodate these little overhangs.

Also, the cleanest/best way to install a grill is to put the grill behind the opening allowing for a little bit of overhang. This way the grill fits seamlessly and does not have any unsightly gaps. Unfortunately this is not possibly with this grill as the mounting flanges are connected completely around the grill opening.

There are a few more reasons as to why we won't be making this part anytime soon but these are the major issues....So I'm about half-way through this novel and Josh and I just realized that I could explain this pretty clearly in about 5 minutes through a video...I'll work on something after lunch that will better illustrate our points.

I hope this little video helps...If it doesn't let me know and I will do another video illustrating a couple of other things we found when looking into this.

Also, if you guys wouldn't mind telling us how helpful this little video is or isn't we'd appreciate it. We are looking into doing more of these video's on new products or just educational video's on how/why things work. If you don't find them helpful then we won't waste our time doing them...But your input is greatly appreciated as always!

Thanks!

Thank you Kyle,

That video was very informative, I think video showcases and educationals are a great idea, some time videos capture pictures and text cannot.
