It looks like it's possible, but it looks like ford gave a little more meat to be able to tap where the oil galley runs compared to on the vh.

As for the car go with the S14.... Live the S chassis and the fitment is way better especially with the TT set up.
i was wondering about how big the 350z bay is, ive got a pretty big shoe horn and u gotta admit it would be pretty damn sweet to have the new car with old engine, plus it looks so damn good. my original plan was the S14 kouki but emissions is a nightmare and in CT ppl want an arm and a leg for one.
kingkilburn wrote:Gotta love simple ingenuity. I wonder if that would work on the VH.
ya thats why i was lookin towards the typical nissan style because they are a banjo type bolt/feed and require one hole for the whole thing, it is pretty nice how ford had that feeding two pistons tho

The money you have spent would have gone to cams, springs, and dry sump if it were my engine/money. A cast pan for the dry sump would have taken care of your beefed up girdle at the same time.

he is an engine machinist. Can't you read. It probably costs him very little actual money to do all the tricky looking stuff.

This is a bad-a** build and i love the explanations and pics. Helps noobs like me learn stuff that we wouldn't otherwise know.

crfrk666,

this is a pretty sick looking build. II just stopped into Accurate to get a quote from RIch on my KA and you happened to mention that you were building a VH.

You def should have talked it up more...had no idea you were going all out. you should also activate PMs in your control panel.

subscribed...cant wait to see how your build progress. Also if youre still looking for an s13/s14 I can point some of the local 240 forums that have a couple for sale right now. Just shoot me a PM or an email [email protected]

I'm still eager to see the results of your machine work so if he's willing to call it quits I am as well.

So i picked up this 95 to be my donor body. For now im going to drive it as is then swap a stock Vh with a 5 speed into it and prep it for the big engine. its going to take a long while but the engine will not be done anytime soon so thats fine.

i decked the block now i have a long wait untill it gets align bored, gives me time to work on the heads a little bit and some stuff with the car.

I checked the coeficient of linear expansion for aluminum and steel. For a 150 degree rise in temperature the block will expand .026" outward from center. The steel girdle will only expand .013".
Nuff said, keep up the good work!

its a 95, absolutly no rust, i got it from RI and the guy payed to have it stored inside for 3 years and before that he bought it from south carolina.

240cp: i just ordered custem sleeves from Darton Sleeves, they make some pretty insane sleeves.

Excellent work. What is your educational / work background? Looks like you have previous experience building engines.

I think I read most of this and did not see anything about piston selection? Full custom or did you have something else in mind?

Thanks for sharing!

sorry guys but there hasnt been any updates with this project, ive got another Vh that im planning on putting into my 240 and that is giving me some troubles, i needed to put some new bearings in and clean it all out but even that isnt going to be happening untill this winter. im going to see if another shop will align bore my block for me and then at least i can put a crank into it, cash is a big holdup tho and these engines aint cheap.

i havent forgoten about updating its just that with this there hasnt been much of any.

Any updates on this cause I'm currently researching a build up on my extra vh engine! I'm wanting to go up to 5.0 liters and possibly offset grinding the crank to 2.0" rod journals and using a 305 chevy rod, but that's where I'm lost! Need to figure out if I need to sleeve and possibly custom pistons? Give me your input on this! I also found the company in Denmark that did custom pistons for John Dixon in the uk! Also wondering if any of the down under guys have any input? I.e. Australia and New Zealand?

theres plenty of places in the US that will do custom pistons, not sure where you are located but if your in the US ide stay here for the work, im going to go with CP, theres also Ross racing and JE, depends who fits your fancy and how much you want to spend, you will deffinatly need to sleeve the block to fit bigger pistons to go to a 5.0l, the bores just arent long enough to stroke the crank out that much, having the crank welded and stroked is mega expencive unless you can find someone who will do it for cheap, the guy i know was pretty expencive so i opted not to, if your gunna boost it then its pretty pointless to stroke it, boost seems to prefer bigger bore vs. stroke, 305 rods are pretty weak so i wouldnt use stock ones. ur gunna have to come up with some final goals and outlines for your engine before you start changing your internal hardware. u have any ideas for that?

Well not gonna use a stock rod! And I can have the crank offset ground for $200 bucks so that's not bad and eagle or crower rods for a chevy are very cheap! And as well cp has a blueprint for stock piston on the vh so I do agree with that! I've been told that the aussies have bumped the vh up to 400cid! So I definitely want to stroke a little bit and then bore the s*** out of it! But I definitely like the idea of more displacement and as far as final goals I'm a bit torn between all motor and supercharged? So figuring rod to stroke ratio and piston speed are in the works just gotta figure out how much I want to dive into this! Thanks for the input I greatly appreciate it!
