well ive searched alot and i guess i dont know what to type into the search bar....but im set on putting the vh45de from the q45 into my 240. im looking here now to aquire the engine swap. I know i would need custom mounts and a driveshaft. if anyone has any pics or info on this that would be killer. im an expierienced engine builder and an ase tech so im not new to this stuff. Its just ive never seen it personally. I think once i seen pics of it. Like would i be able to use the q45 wiring and ecu? would i also have any issues with my brake power booster and master cylinder? also my car is manual now. Id be going automatic with the swap and i would like to know how will i control the transmission. I know on auto v8 trans swaps like american car ppl do they shift the transmission manually. like they have 1,2,3 and Overdrive with is actually in the Drive position. could i do that with the q45 transmission or would i have to incorporate the transmission electronics too? any info would be golden so please help me on my LONG quest to make this work someday.

thanks

lewis

on domestic autos, guys that strip their cars install shift kits like hurst makes. dont know that they have one for your q45 transmission.

ok...well how about a vh41 then...either way im going to have a v8 into my chassis and its going to be a nissan v8. I would love to get the vh45 though preferably. I can make a set of headers custom. Im not worried about that or making some modifications to the chassis. No problems with that since the car wont be driven daily. Just a fun weekend car to cruise and stuff like that you know. I have a guy that is local with a Q45 who is going to let me come over to his place and take full measurements then i will decide what to do then. A 310hp/320 ft lb naturally aspirated engine is quite ideal plus this isnt on a budget. Sure im not going to go ALL out but im going to be wise on how i spend with it. I do however would like to make a set of headers, mounts and driveshaft for it so that way if anyone else was wanting this swap then i could just duplicate this. I am expierienced in autoCAD and crazy swaps but this one would take the cake. There are a few reasons why i want this. I Love v8's but hate pushrods. DOHC engines are the way to tune if u ask me. I love japanese cars and im not really a big fan of american styling let alone quality. I love the sound of a v8 in general. Plus i could shut up all the rednecks in the area up with a 150shot of spray on a 4.5 L dohc v8 swap. I really want to make this happen and if i decide it can be done then im going to go thru with it. When i take the measurements and if it wont fit no matter what then ill reconsider. Ive got about 8 people right now helping me research and finding out what i need to do.

oh and were keeping the stock auto...might have to find a way i can incorporate the transmission electronics into this swap if all else fails
