by all means.... go on.

I've just cut up the stock exhuast manifold with the look of modifying it to fit. (in a Nissan Patrol). And to be perfectly honest, they are crap in side. From the outside they look pretty good but where each runner attachts, there is a hole cut in the pipe that in no way coresponds to the size of the runner. Apart from the front cylinder on each side, they are getting a lot of restriction. Even a budget pipe manifold is going to be better!

so where do yo uthink the most restriction is?? It appears that the flange and the turndown is all good, and then after it dumps into that tiny little runner, it looks pretty restrictive.

So really if you wanted to modify it youd just take the manifold and cut everything off except where it turns down.

From the flange to the first weld is pretty good. It is what is behind the first weld that is the problem. I've cut everything of the flange and will start from there. My original plan was to trim things up as I'm putting a VH45 into a Patrol and there isn't enough room between the chassis rail for the factory manifolds. Now I'll just make up some cheap extractors. The problem is that in after next season I'm going to turbo it so spending the money would be a waste.

That intake is a work of art. Its something nice to think about the next time I hammer it to 120.
