VH Hot rod

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

The MAF translator is the same price as the MSII which is a full standalone.

How about putting the VH in a 240 - 280z. Thats the way to go.

Because hybrids is for people swapping a Nissan/Infiniti motor into a non-Nissan/Infiniti body, or vice versa. Its explained in the welcome thread.

Besides, we're obviously discussing a Hot Rod, hence the title, VH Hot Rod.

It does allot more than just translate a map/temp signal to MAF signal--and the price (for what it does) is pretty reasonable.

check this outIs the ultimate in bolt-on tuning mods! The Translator Pro performs a true speed density calculation to determine engine airflow, allowing the user to remove the MAF sensor and use a GM 3 or our 5 bar MAP sensor. Allowing tuning by RPM and boost, the Translator Pro is pre-configured with base maps for most popular applications to get the user up and running quickly, just select the base map, injector size, and go!

I wonder if there are any VH,RB,SR ect... maps in there.

It is very capable (data logging)--I'm considering one of these for tuning the rb and I like that you can pull it up on your lap top!!

The Sensor monitor page is used to view various sensor and signal values. Each button toggles one of the 4 viewed valuse through the following list.

RPM - Engine RPMMP - Manifold presure (KPA)DC - Density Compensation (Speed Density Airtemp correction factor)AFL - AirFlow, Speed Density calculated Grams/SecAFI - Airflow Input, If a MAF is connected.VE - Volumetric Efficiency, from the Speed Density algorithmFI - Frequency input valueFO - Frequency output valueUT - User Tune. Combined System Scale, AF Tune, Airtemp, and Triggered adjustmentsTPS - TPS sensor valueBD - Boost DutycycleMT - Manifold TemperatureO2 - Voltage reading on O2 sensor inputFE - Flow Error. If a MAF is conected, this is the % dif, MAF and Speed DensityASC - Afterstart correctionAFR - A/F Ratio, if a wideband is connected.CF - Wideband tracking Correction FactorTAF - Target A/F Ratio

Yea those pipes took about a metric crap ton of hours. When I was putting Greg's intercooler pipes together it took me about a Day each pipe. It was all pre-bent and all I had to do was tig it together and it took a whole day!!!! It gives me inspiration for my RB piping..

As cool as forced induction woudl be I still would keep the Hot rod NA--JUST because of the nature of the project---AND the reason I started this thread was I was running those VH's without exaust.

It was more of an inspirational post anyway. A sweet open header VH would be almost as sexy as a set of twins.

Have you considered the 6-71 blower? It wouldn't be "to" hard to ring up. Then you'll can toss on a Demon carb and roll. That with open headers...dude. Plus, the blower whine at 7200rpm would sound like pure sex.

Any of the refined V8's sound sooooo Good no matter what you do to them--If I carbed it up I wonder if it would lose that distinct sound?

I doubt it would, plus you could fab a really nice high rise intake mani for the carb. Although, I am against going carb...What would you be using for ignition control?

I like the idea of a high-rise or ITB's for the VH... Remember those ones from AU we saw at SEMA?

I just wonder if the VH sound has anything to do with the way the intake is designed because youll notice that even northstars, and ford 4.6s dont have that "sound" the VH45 has. Its very similar, but its not the same....

Porsche (late 70's and 80's)did allot with port timing, valve timing and port tumble and flow--they dramatically increased HP and the resulting sound of the Porsche V8's and flat 6's are VERY distinctive because of this. It probably does not have as much to do with plenum volume as it has to do with the mechanics of the head and timing of the combustion event.

Because Porsche motors are Stupid expensive!!!

I want to use as many Datsun/Nissan parts as possable--I'm going to plunder Gregs datsun roadsters for controls and suspension.
