VH Hot rod

V8 240sx? Sure! If either the chassis OR the engine is non-Nissan (i.e. SR20 in an RX-7 or LS1 in a 240sx), we've done it.

The last two VH's that I have swapped I started up with just the headers on and the thing sounds AWSOME--I would love to polish one of those motors and put it in something like a 32 ford repo chassis. there are a few companies that make repoduction chassis for popular cars in the 4-6K range so I could get one together for under 10k.

I've considered the same thing. On a car of that vintage you may run into some width issues (DOHC 90deg v8's are wiiiidddeee) but nothing insurmountable. While you're at it, I'd throw a couple t3's on it too.

I thought about that myself, with twin turbo's though and a new intake manifold. I think that would be completely sexy. Or a RB30DET, but that would be a tad more expensive. The VH45 is a damn good motor and you can get the whole Q45 for under $4000. So all the parts pieces are right there.

You ever consider a T-bucket kit? I was very interested in doing a kit before my incarceration...lol. Now I just want to finish my KAT. So many dreams, so little time

YES YES YES!!!! That motor is too sexy not to be shown off like that--is that a custom plenum? I want to do something along those lines except I want to see the motor more--(Zoomies would be too much--but i definitely want to do some custom headers)

I also want it to be a little more "Rat Rod" say all black and the motor polished/scotch bright-ed in all the right areas.

I even happen to already have a Q45 motor sans transmission

Intake is stock equal length by the looks of it. A "simple" dual surge tank/dual throttle body intake setup would friggn rock though. With a set of fully exposed headers....PURE sex!!!

It would have to be single TB because if the MAF--I have enough left over VH parts to make a good motor--I will need a trans/trans controller, engine harness.

I would like to find a chassis somewhere instead of buying a new repro one--definitely old school just about anything from the 30's through 40's FORD-CHEVY it doesn't matter--I Have plenty of welders and a Plasma cutter.

HA I could have the first hot rod with active suspension-LOL

Man, this could really be a sweet project. I'll start looking on Ebay while I'm browsing for my usual speed parts. Whats a decent price range?

I always thought it would be cool to take 2 plenums, cut them in half and have the dual 90mm TBs. Would be sexy, and we could work some magic with the ECU to run only one MAF (double the MAF voltage because that MAF is only seeing half the air of the air going into the engine)....... Z32 guys do it all the time...

That would definitly be sick...twin TB's on seperate surge tanks would be so sexy. All polished aluminum...very nice. Doesn't that VH powered boat have twin surge tanks? I'll hunt down the vid...

Free to really cheap--till I get the RB project done ----I have to watch it so my projects don't get too out of hand. If something came along that wasn't too expensive. I would like this to be a long term project. I have the motor so I want to look for a trans, then a chassis. If I could collect parts say over the next 6 to 12 months.

the Dual plenums sound cool. I could size the throttle bodies down a bit--fab some tubes to come around and merge to the MAF? people would be guessing all day long.

I really want this thing on the ground--very rat rod for the chassis and the motor to have scotch bright shine.

I wasnt thinking do a dual plenum, have the single SPIDER but cut 2 plenums in half and merge the halves with the TBs (the driver side).. The plenum looks symmetrical so if it was cut exactly in the center it looks like it would work (would line up with the other runners).... I know a lot of you guys dont like the SPIDER intake manifold, but its what makes the VH motor look different from EVERY Other motor on the planet, because nothing else on the planet has something like it!

So basically just cut the plenum in half to seperate the V and use twin TB's? Thats basically the same idea I had except you'd be fabricating alot more. Your way would let you keep the equal length runners...

I wish I had some pics of that boats intake manifold from all angles. I love that setup.

I watched a few days on TV, I bet being there was the ****. Next time you talk to Greg, tell him I said thanks for the phone call...had I known he was going I might have drove up for a day or two. But NOOOOO, don't tell Brian anything...

The VH Hot Rod will definitly be an awsome project. Do you read Car Craft and Hot Rod? One of them last month had an article about a guy who built a dirt track car, but uses it on the road. Sweet looking ride...

OH...I totally get it now. That would be pretty sweet for NA. Makes the intake look completely different, polish everything up and use chrome intake piping...very nice.

After seeing that oval track VH--I got to thinking about the crazy intake I could fab up to a (Carb ) It would simplify things a great deal.

The ONLY draw back to the stand alone is the cost

Theres also things that this one company (cant recall off hand) that sells MAF to MAP converters so you can use a MAP with a stock ECU...

I would be VERY interested in the MAF to MAP conversion. The Only Reason I was thinking Carb was based on the idea of the build (old school+ hot rod )--and the fact that I could fire up the tig and go to town on a manifold.

I think I want to stay as close to stock as possible just for $$$$ sake.

We have a RB-powered S13, a classic Z, two Roadsters, a droptop 240, a rotary Imp, an old Porsche, a frame-dragging Chevy, and a couple dune buggies to finish first.
