He makes a very good point. At this age you tend to make mistakes when driving. I fear for your first car, so choose wisely my son.sommmatt wrote:I don't see how your dad is an ***hole at all, lol, he's keeping a car with too much horsepower out of your hands. You're 16, you don't even have pubes yet.
Same exact thing happened to me. I was impatient and wanted my first car, but it was a pos and I sold it within months. Take your time to find the perfect car, it will come up sooner or later.bearback wrote:yea dont get impatient.i waited 6 months before i got my first 240 and it was a peice of s***.i waited another 2 or 3 months before i finally sold it.
Yeah def man. But I have to wait a few because I want to prep the motor first a bit (apexi HG and rocker stoppers) I would NEED to buy a 3" downpipe, IC piping and IC. BOV That's pretty much it.I wouldn't have nonstock suspension, so I'd be inclined to go PBM asap lol.hbpignosePA wrote:damn didderson, you make me feel sad for your car and your whole situation.... if you could find a cheap shell would you buy it?
i mean sub 500; you have the motorset and all already right?
Your dad is right. He is trying to protect you from yourself. Buy a car in texas or new mexico or arizona or some other place that will not result in a rusty piece of s***.240sxFTW wrote:so yesterday an ad came up. http://calgary.kijiji.ca/c-car...91991
It is a fantastic deal. could maybe go as far as a steal in my opinion. I live in canada and these cars are quite rare. So today we were about to make the trip down there (3 hour drive). everything checked out good they guy was very informative and honest. so we are about to leave the house and my dad decides to phone and ask if the car will pass an inspection at canadian tire (for those of you who dont know of this place, its s*** with a bunch of 16 year olds working on cars) And the seller sais that there is 2 things that would not pass1. No cat (turbo back 3")2. a fair amount of rust. "not visible but its there" quoted from the seller. so i was quite excited thinking that this car is gonna be my first. my dad hangs up the phone and he said quote " If it wont pass an inspection then th deals off" So i go "dad, this is a great deal, so what if it has rust? its a 19 year old car being put through years of snow and salt."" no. end of story."
Now ive been looking for a 240 for the past 3 months im REALLY getting impatient especially because i got my license a week ago and it is absolutely nerve racking when you dont have a car but you have a license.
Im sorry if this is a useless thread but i really needed to vent and maybe I wanted someone to comment saying that my dads an ***hole. (that would cheer me up)
You're Canadian, so I won't flame you. I'm Canadian too, but...whatever.stutterr wrote:worst idea ever,..mexico..yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
Hes right next to BC, the 240sx here are cheap and rust free. Also there is no need to get the car registered in Canada (bring it up to Canadian standards). Not to mention taxes, and bringing the car over here.
In BC we don't use salt on the roads, only sand.
To the original OP, go to BC to get a car, you will not be sorry.
240sx from Mexico..worst idea ever. Who would ever get a car from Mexico?
Mexico, Heh.I did also say "some other place" where the car is not rusty so if you can get a rust free car in flappy-head land, more power to you. Most 240s posted from north of the Mason-Dixon are rusty POS. Even if people have to ship a car across country, the freight is cheaper than having to fix a rusty POS.stutterr wrote:worst idea ever,..mexico..yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!
