I heard about this. It's retarded. Generating revenue? Lame. I notice it says "accused" of street racing even though there is no proof of anything. Don't the cops out here have anything better to do?

wtf.... that's just wrong... do they need money that bad that they actually had to PLAN this out? seriously shouldn't they be working towards something that will be more harm to society like drugs and criminals? there isn't any proof of street racing, so why cherry pick off of an enthusiast meet? this just makes me sick to the bone...

When asked why do you need more power from your engine, I don't know why they didn't just say I take it to the track (drag, drift, etc) ??

ya its pretty messed up. cops should be doing other stuff like crackin down on violence, not raiding car meets when all people do is just check out other cars and have a good time meeting other people with the same interest.

Easy to get paranoid with how crappy this state is to us tuners.

Need to get my S13 licensed in Arizona or something.

That community college they talk about in the article is like 3 minutes away from my house.

Was that even a Nissan meet?

ya i unno. i heard it through a friend. but ya a meet is a meet and if they crack down on that particular meet they might even crack down on a nissan meet? all in all it sucks that they would even do that.

A good idea would probably be to keep a couple of track slips in your car to prove you race ON the track in case the LEOs ever give you a hard time for your mods.

Here's the problem. If they see track times, I think it will give them more of a reason to check your engine. =x

So run a few slow track times, they aren't going to be too concerned with a car if the slips that the owners keeps to brag about are 16-17 second 1/4s.

And if you crash into a tree or hit someone, its also a no no. Pull over and take a damn ticket, if you know your not doing anything wrong then why run.

As far as the meet's thats pretty F'd up. There has to be a way to avoid it, and the statments on that site are incorrect there was a repost of this that said tickets were given because of tints and etc. If im asked why i modified my engine i would say i race on the track

I remember this had happened a couple years ago down south. Cops were doing a like a smog/sobriety check point thing. But instead they were busting the sport compact crowd. If its street legal and you did not steal it and can afford it, put whatever the FCUK you want on your car.I guarantee there is more than one cop out that has some blown muscle car or hotrod.

Not what if I pulled through the check point in my $250k Diablo??? Uhh I use it to take the kids to soccer games when were running late.

Fcuking bullpoop, spend revenue on something more important.

Last I checked this was still THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA a DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY!!!!!

Ain't that the truth! Also, they call this "land of the free" but it's probably the most oppressed country i've ever been to in my life. Speakin of cops, my buddy got pulled over this weekend with me sitting shotgun in a Honda Civic fully restored race car. I mean this thing has engine, 2 seats, wheels, and thats it!!! No dashboard, no interior, plastic FAL windows, no license plates, no turn signals, NOTHING!!! The cops checked all the vins, checked the engine, asked him why the "camshaft cover" is missing (they didnt mention anything about the adjustable cam gears that were showing underneath) he acted dumb and said he didnt know, but it just passed smog, and hes building the car for show (hahah). They also asked about all the breather lines that just dump on the bottom of the engine and he replied "it makes the engine breathe better"

When they started writing tickets, my friend lost his cool and started yelling "MAN I DIDNT EVEN HAVE TO POP THE HOOD FOR YOU" - his hood pop latch is hidden very well and the cops definitely wouldnt have found it. I would think that they would have towed it if that were the case! They let him off with a no registration and no insurance ticket, and let us drive off, open header!! 2 minutes later we were going 140 mph!!
