Are you seriously comparing eye lids to lambo doors? Have you ever owned or even seen lambo doors on a vehicles. It is NOT the same thing, it is NOT a simple mod, and it DOES ruin your car and it is NOT easy to go back to factory brackets.

1st. The good kits require a lot of precise measuring and WELDING of a bracket to your vehicle (Ruin #1)

2nd. You must cut the door hinge that slides into and out of your door when opening to the side (Ruin #2)

3rd. To close the door, it goes down and then in, however, there is no level plane on which to swing the door in on, thus the door can come down too much, or not enough, being off by only about .5 inch or so. When that happens, you will bang your door on the little bracket that engages the lock mechanism, the end result is A LOT of dings around where the door is supposed to close (Ruin #3)

Usually, its a good idea to refrain from making claims regarding something you have no personal experience with.

LAMBO DOORS ARE A BAD IDEA ON A DAILY DRIVEN CAR... PERIOD!

Did you see me comparing the two directly? I never said they were comparable mods, you're putting words into my mouth.

Funny; do you have any concrete evidence that Scissor doors are bad on a daily driver or is that just an assumption? My friend hasn't had any problems with them on his 240 and he drives his car everywhere.

But of course, what do I know?

You must be right.

Dude, did you seriously say "my friend said"... that means you'ver never had them on your car right, you've just seen them!

Oh, well I've had them on my previous car, and I'm not talking about stuff that I read about on the net, or heard from "a friend"... I'm talking about what I experienced having had a pair of vertical doors on my last car. So concrete evidence, yes I have that.

Again, bottom line regarding lambo doors is that they are not a good detup at all for a daily driven car. And you ruin a number of things on your car that are not very easily replaced.

There was a time when vertical doors were widely considered cool. There was also a time when spinning rims was considered cool. There was also a time when bow-leg wheels were considered cool (i.e. wheels with negative offset) But the key word for all of these is was...

no matter how played out a mod is, if someone likes it, then fine, do it, its your $hit, but this is a mod that will PERMANENTLY change your vehicle to the point that it wqill NEVER be the same as it was prior. And for a passing fad (that has already passed) that's just not a very smart thing to do to a brand new car!

Wow, you typed all of that up for me?

I really could care less if you think they're a fad. I wouldn't put them on an Altima but there are definitely crappier mods for the Coupe than scissor doors.

Magic doors / Shaved Handles are also played out as well. Talk about ruining your car.

Yeah,..that would be Vertical Doors Inc. My doors open conventionally as well as vertical, which I only use during shows and after I wash the car, It helps "drain" the water that is in the door

there's a number of weld on kits that operate like that... they open up normally forst in order to clear the fender when it swings up vertically (you'd have to see exactly how the arm moves to understand this... however NONE OF THEM open up as wide as the factory door! Usually they only open up to about 45 degrees.. which is a PITA if you're a big guy trying to get in and out of these vehicles

I'm with doc on this. My doors only open half of what they used to and i have to warn people about the door before they go and open it or the darn thing will swing right back at them almost knocking them out cold. I know,..it almost happened to my wife She was not a happy camper
