I meant both.

Doesn't the stock intake come with tuned intake for lowend torque? This engine already has VVT. It just needs a Variable intake like the 2000-2001 Maxima to get both low and high end power.

I can't link to a Honda forum so just googleDIY intake heat wrap

You'll find all the answers.

Basically, after a short driving the engine bay can get hot enough to burn you skin off. Stock intake is plastic and doesn't conduct heat as much as metal. Once you change it you get more heat.

The stock intake has resonance stuff (the ribbs) which slows down the air flow velocity, CAI upgrades get rid of that and increase you engine power.

But unlike the Stock intake, CAI setups get rid of the air box and pull in air that is INSIDE the engine bay, so they are more like HOT AIR INTAKE.

Get a CAI, make sure it goes into the stock box, which is linked to outside of the engine bay. Wrap the stuff around the CAI aluminum pipe. You get the best of both worlds.

im gonna have to try this..So all you gotta do is wrap aluminum foil all over the cai intake pipes and what happens is that you get a little more power or its just to protect the intake??

You get power sooner and gets it overall the rpm range. Basically, for each stroke of the cylinder, the air that goes in is more condensed.

Don't think of it as better gas mileage. The air temp and mass is calcualted by the ECU to give corresponding amount of fuel.

But for each rotation (workload) the engine has to do, it makes more output.

If you want to get better gas mileage, wrap the stuff around the AC condenser lines. They already have it for most parts but some are still exposed.

ohh ok i see. what 3 layers of aluminum foil could do to yur car! loli mean i just want more power you know, but then again mileage is also important so yeah..

and im also wondering, does the whole thing need to be wrapped? or the half of it? cause the bottom half--where the filter is--doesnt really get warm around there but the top part ofcourse does you know?

It needs to be wrapped where it is hotter than air outside the engine bay.

Heat wraps are more than just aluminum foil, don't try to use Home Depot stuff. Home construction materials are not make for burning hot stuff inside the engine bay.

exhaust heat tape, you see it alot on motorcycle exhausts.

you can get it on ebay...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Thermo-T ... enameZWDVW

you can also get heat tubes that go over your intake tubes...http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/THERMO-T ... enameZWD1V

i am also thinking of doing this, and maybe the intake manifold

The intake manifold we have is plastic though. I suppose it should work the same either way I guess.

If your intake manifold is made of metal, you could use some heat wraps. Some metal like stainless steel transfers heat quickly, some like aluminum (used on most car intake manifold) transfers heat slower.

If your intake manifold is stock plastic, you can care less about shielding it from engine bay heat, but if the intake PIPE is metal (like most CAI setup) heat wraps can help.

Versa has the exhaust in the back like most FWD these days (Civic, Lancer) but the engine bay still gets really hot.

I'm saying don't use home depot stuff. Most stuff there are not made to go inside the engine bay.Try putting a piece of clothe inside your engine bay and drive around for a good example of what would happen if you put just anything inside your engine bay.

OR could be that there weren't enough serious buyers :gotme I wouldn't bother making any parts either if there were like only 5 people seriously interested.

I was told the person who developed it had a falling out with Dynatek and took it with him when he departed the company. I have tried to ask the guy how to buy it from him, get another one made, etc. but he has never returned any of my emails.

It was shown in one of the 6 issues of Siphon Magazine, which is where I first saw it. I think it was issue 4 or 5.

that's a shame. unfortunately we don't have much for our car, and whenever something happens it doesn't go through. the price was indeed a bit high, but as I researched, to forge one is at least 800 bucks... I guess my only choice it to wait until the versa becomes as popular as those Honda CRX that we see all the time. My friend bought an intake manifold for his crx for about 100 bucks. that's what we need.
