Valve spring replacement assistance

I recently rebuilt my engine and i attempted to change my valve springs but when i took off the caps i was lost and ran out of time with my space to work, is there anyway i can take the hood off and change the valve springs without taking the head off i saw a couple posts but all were done inside except for one guy who said he did it in but i cant seem to find a post on it can any one assist?
