or a service manual. You really don't need a timing light w/the fsm.

Anyway, have you checked injectors? Try this, when the car warms up, leave it in idle and start disconnecting the electical harness to each injector. One by one, reconnecting as you go. If you see a change in the idle, then the injector is probably fine, if you remove a harness from one, and it doesn't change the idle, you may need to replace that injector or check the electric curren to it.

Also, you say you've had this car since '96 w/13k miles? If so, and by looking at the obvious sludge, I assume you've never changed the o2 sensor like the dealer told you? You have to change it every 60k miles or so. What about oil filter/air filter, and the like? I'm not trying to patronize you or anything, but it's just common procedure. You can try to clean the o2 sensor w/some mineral spirits, and see if there's a change.... although it may not be safe for it. That rust looking spot on the cam is worrying. There should be no water to oxidize it. Indication of water in the oil usually means a blown head gasket. Check comp.

THis is what I've done recently after the problem occored. Oil filter was changed last oil change. The oil and filter will be changed this weekend.

So far I've done:1) cleaned the throttle body2) new plugs and sparkplugs.3)seafoamed my gas.4)sea foamed my engine oil5)changed my gas filter6)changed my air filter7)changed my o2 sensor.8) Seafoamed my brake booster line9) reset my ecu.

I left the valve cover off over night the next day it had that rust on their. Came off with a little sea foam. I live In baton Rogue humidity is high and it ran that night... car was under the car port though.

I'll test the injecters tomorrow like you suggest and see what happens and report back.

ok I just checked this out. When I take #1 or #4 off the engine dies... But on #2 and #3 there is 0 change! I can take 2 and 3 off at the same time and the car still runs... I going to try and get ahold off a voltage tester and see what happens. Any advice on how I should proceed would be much appriciated.

Well, that may mean you are only running on 2 injectors. You see, when I had this problem, I would not see any change when disconnecting the 4th injector. I had an extra fuel rail laying around, so I proceeded by pulling the extra set of injectors. I then plugged one of these into the 4th harness to see if the electrical current was ok... I heard clicking, so I knew it had to be the injector. I then proceeded to remove the cap (2 phillips), release fuel pressure, and pry off the crappy injector. Installed the extra one, and voila!!

Sometimes, the injector may be fine, but stuck. If you can, and have a fuel injection shop near you, tell them to check it out. However, this may prove to be more $$ then getting 2 used replacements.

So those red things in there need to be changed? are they the injecter? The ones that the plugs connect to?
