I'm planning to replace my leaky valve cover gaskets - 2001 Pathfinder, 195k mi. Aside from the gasket kits which include the plug seals and grommets, are there other parts I will need or are recommended to replace at the same time? I have RTV, my spark plugs are still young and I've not had any issue with ignition, so I think the coils are fine.

Thanks!

PCV valve and grommet or o-ring (depending on which kind you have), plus the the hose from it to the intake and the hose that runs between both valve covers. I just did this job on my '02 and had to destroy those hoses to remove them due to being hard from age. It was suggested to me to get new gaskets for the timing control solenoids (part # 23797-2Y50A). I ended up having to remove the RH side solenoid to remove the RH valve cover so I did need one of the gaskets but I did not have to remove the LH side solenoid. You will also need new gaskets for the intake and throttle body.

Also, do you have the aluminum valve covers or the black plastic valve covers? Many parts lists (including Courtesy) were showing I needed the plug seals and grommets as well as the push in type of PCV valve but mine has the black plastic valve covers which don't use them.

My valve covers appear to be metal, hopefully I'll be able to do the plug seals - info on the internet is all over the map on those.

Check out my post here for thoughts on parts and heads up, though Upgrayedd summed it pretty well. Also, I would highly recommend getting OEM gaskets instead of the Beck/Arnley you're looking at. I had bought Fel-Pro originally which is usually a top-notch brand but also got some OEMs on a hunch. The OEMs were made from much softer rubber (more pliable), had a broader contact surface, and was designed such that they stuck in the valve cover, even after flipping them over. This meant that I didn't have to use any product to hold them in place while installing them. The Fel-Pros also had some messy manufacturing that made me concerned they'd end up leaking. Check out my post here to see what I'm talking about, specifically.
