Dex, for some reason I thought the same thing looking at it today. I didn't think about it the first time I saw it, but then today Grand Am screamed in my head. Scroll down a little and you thought the same. Haha. I am sure once it is painted and everything it will be murder.

BWAHahahaha...you guys are nuts! Pontiac....... Anyhow, I am sure it will look a lot different once the parts are painted and the front end comes back down to earth with the motor in.

Thanks for all the kind words guys! I build this car for my own personal satisfaction. But I gotta say, knowing people like the direction it's going really fuels the fire. I thank you....but my wallet.....that's another story!

Wednesday and Thursday are going to be interesting days as the car will be done at paint and get trailered back to the shop. The motor should be complete by Wednesday evening. Once everything is back at SPD Metal Works (shameless plug.....but seriously, checkem' out http://www.spdmetalworks.com) the fun begins. We will be making new engine mounts, transmission mount, front bumper support, and sweet fully badass exhaust. Gotta redo the twice pipes!

As everything comes together I'll post more images.

Thanks for the encouragement......

Ahhhhh......"the VQ Swap". I gotta be totally honest. A shop called Design Craft did the original with me back in late 05. At the time some had sarted on theirs but mine was the first one actually that functioned. Knowing we were pioneering something and trying to get it done before it's SEMA debut caused a lot of corners to be cut. Although not noticeable, there were a lot of things that needed revisiting. So, this time around the boys at SPD Metal Works and I are going to fix all the little issues with the mounting situation. It will be BAD *** as everything that comes out of Scott's shop is insanely nice and well thought. So to get back to the question at hand; the swap is not bad if you have someone that can handle the fabby stuff. Stand alone ecu is the way to go. I know a lot of guys like to use the OEM wiring and sensors and such but it is an extreme pain in the *** if your not a certified Nissan tech. You will need to have a drive shaft made. I kept mine a two piece format as I have learned being involved since US drifting's inception that is the way to go for less issues. It's been flawless. I had a radiator custom made for the job but you can easily use the stock unit and run coolant hoses across the bay. All in all, if your confident in your mechanical skills and up for a little challenge it can be done. P.S. If anyone is interested in a complete mount kit for this swap please contact Scott at SPD Metal Works and let him know because he doesn't think there is a market. We are going to making new mounts for my car so it would be easy for him to make some jigs and start pumping out mount kits. You can contact him at http://www.spdmetalworks.com if interested.

Dex, sorry dude. Your gonna need to keep checking back.

The KA is not a bad motor. It has just gotten a bad rap mostly because the ones people are getting in their cars have high mileage and generally weren't taken care of. Then an enthusiast gets his "new" used car and stands on it the way it was supposed to be done. But that old motor isn't up to the challenge anymore. Thats when the frustration sets in on the new owner and they go get a "better" SR or the like. I have seen some pretty insane stuff done with KA-T setups. Ask AZHitMan! These days I see people Boreing and stroking SR20's to 2.2 and 2.4 liters. Weird? The KA is already 2.4 liters and with the right internals I believe has more potential. But who am I to talk. I blew up mine and instead of building a dope KA I pitched it to the curb and threw 2 additional cylinders at my set up.

To each his own I guess............

ive been in the 240 loop for about 5 years now, done the CA, SR, SOHC, and DOHC. just dont really want a KA lol

the car i recently bought only has around 80,000 miles on the clock. was contemplating a ka-t build but it has a flood title so id have to rip the motor apart anywho. i worked at it all day saturday and sunday, replacing fuel tank pump filter and lines, then spent the later part of sunday trying to figure out why it still isnt starting... i think the starter soleinoid is seized.. but ran outta cash. so i just want to swap it all out with a different engine.. used to want the vq but i hadnt seen anyone who had gotten one running in a 240 yet, so i was really leaning towards a ls1 but not sure if thats what i want to do or not..

ive been all over ka-t.org researching so i know what the ka can do, i just want power without having to worry about a turbo

but anyways back to your thread... i emailed scott asking for a guesstimate of about how much the prefabbed mounts would cost... we'll see how it works out lol

Ahhhhh...I see.

I'm a fan of the LS1 if done properly. They are bullet proof motors. There is just something about that rumble coming out of a 240 that doesn't compute in my head though?

Well, I hope Scott can give you a good price on the mount kit as that seems to be the most difficult part to the swap. Go VQ dude!

Back to the topic at hand. I should be receiving the ITB's today via UPS and the car should be picked up today from Sam's Auto Land paint and body. This is where the late nights begin! We have exactly 11 days until the car needs to be on the show floor.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN!

I will post as frequently as possible so you picture whores can see whats going on.

They are in the trash can!

Well, got the car picked up yesterday evening. I was only able to get the aero kit fitted mildly as we working on another car that needs to be at SEMA as well. It fits nice but a few minor mods needed to be made to the rear overfenders to make everything jive.

ITB's arrive today and I pick up the engine tonight. Pics coming........bear with me!

Wow. It took a day and a half to get the SuperMade kit test fitted and mounted on the car. THere were many things that needed a little "finesse" to make it all fit the way I like. Damn fiberglass....I'm itching like crazy!!!

Anyhow, I picked up the engine at 6pm and brought it back to the shop as seen here in this CRAPPY cell phone picture:

I am super excited to get it back into the bay where it belongs and get the Extrudabody itb's bolted down on top of it. WooHoo.....it's gonna be real close fella's. Seven days until deadline!!!

P.S. I really want to enter the car for the calender DEX. I don't think I will have time to make the submission however. Any chance for an extension?????

Guys,

I am selling the brakes that are currently on the car and replacing them with something from a friends company for SEMA and beyond. They are Rotora Front brakes and the specs are 14" slotted and drilled rotors and 6 piston chrome calipers that were made specifically for my project. These brakes are not for the faint of heart and you won't find another set anywhere.......will fit 350Z or G35 as well I believe.

Please take a look and if you're interested please email me an $$$ offer to [email protected]

Mods, I hope it's fine to list this here. If not, please move to trading post and slap me.....

Holy Crap those are bad a$$! What brake set-up are you going to go with? Can't wait to see...it's got to be something unreal to replace that set-up.

lol...I check this thread hourly to see if you have updated it...it's like Christmas morning every time I check it out. Can't wait to see what's next

I won't delete it from this thread.

What I would do it I were you is make another post in the Trading post, and also on the Classifieds sections... List 350z and G35 in the subject line.. Those dudes are probably better prospects to buy from you because they tend to have a little more disposable cash than us in the 'vert crew.
